Hoppin Frog DORIS vs Cigar City Marshal Zhukov side by side. Really fun and delicious to do.

Turns out we liked DORIS a bit more after the first blind sips (full disclosure: the homerism is strong with us on the Frog, but I swear, it was blind!).

We didn't think they'd be so different, always thought of them as very similar, stellar examples of the style, but together the differences are more obvious.

MZ is a little sweeter like there's chocolate cherry, maybe some cedar or wood. DORIS is more roasty, chocolatey and nutty. When they warm MZ has more licorice and molasses, while Doris is hoppier with pine, cedar and even lime...? Not the primary flavors/aromas, but just the little notes that set them apart from each other.

Anyway, that was fun!

Nice day up in the city. I miss Pequods immensely. The pan with jalapeno and pepperoni is crazy good and so is the sausage and pepper. I dream of their crust sometimes.
