Ripping lunch . . .



Opening this freshly canned brew releases a rich, juicy hop aroma from an arm's length away. I detect grapefruit, pine, and a rounded tropical fruit essence. Solid malt in the background.

Taste is hop forward with emphasis on the grapefruit/pine noticed in the aroma. Lots of hoppy goodness going on with plenty of malt carrying the hops along. Complex flavors well integrated, malt and hops announcing together on entry and going forth through the finish then lingering in the aftertaste. I didn't want to stand up and salute but did sit up and take notice.

That's definitely one of my favorite pluot brews

Bit closer to home now with this Gulden Draak brewmasters edition, while doing some cooking.

I was looking everywhere for this beer last year. Now it's almost everywhere. Ofcourse, a once a year production. I understand now. But this once a year production must be an enormous batch.

Dayslayer, India pale lager collaboration between Stone and Maine Beer Company featuring Perle, Saphir, Aramis, Amarillo, and Motueka hops... As per the category, this is basically an IPA brewed like a lager, and carrying a 7.5% abv. You get all the richness and warmth of an ale, but with the smoothness and drinkability of a lager. Aromas of pale fruit equaled by fresh grain impressions. Cracker and biscuit tasting notes are complimented by something like fruit jam, perhaps 'lite' marmalade and honey... More sweet than dry, but the sugars are held in check. Smooth and soft, amply carbonated, and quick-drinking...

A nice beer, and I'd expect nothing less from Stone and MBC...

Not sure what makes this "metal" but I'll go with it...
