I personally like KBS better than BA Dark App (and a lot of JO barrel offerings), but that is because the barrel in KBS is more of a feature than a primary flavor.

I like BA JO Stouts, but they are quite intensely barrel bias. KBS is restrained and a bit more, approachable?

Win win, either way. Just my preference!

Does anyone know if Dank Sinatra will be making it to Middleburg or is it N. Olmstead only?

It's really unfortunate that the refusal to end the all-bomber format is and will continue to be the downfall of HF, at least locally. Living close to the brewery, I get everything I want there on draft, then buy the 'rare..er' bottles to keep at home, but all their stuff just sits on the shelves everywhere because it's all bombers. I mean I would have Cafe Silk, Cafe Boris, Gangster Frog, Outa Kilter, etc on hand at all times if it was in a better format. Shit sucks. Ugh.

I'd be curious to know how often it moves, but I'm in the same boat, I get most of it on draft. I think many people see the price on the bombers and think it's too high, but they're actually very competitively priced per ounce. The only downside is having to drink it all in one sitting if you're only wanting 12oz or so. I'm not sure they'll ever move away from the single bottle at a time hand bottled system they are using, but if they do I imagine they'll need more space. I'll ask again next time I'm there.

Anyway, Cafe Silk doesn't come on as often as I'd like, and even though I like regular BORIS more than regular Silk, for some reason the coffee treatment works so much better for me in Frog's porter vs their stout.

Plug for a brewery opening up its membership today. Brewery out of Bowling Green that will only be doing barrel aged beers. Dude is going to do some incredible things. Details can be found on the page, but it's a solid deal and they will be delivering some amazing beer in the next few months.

Can you provide any additional details? Is the brewer from a previous company that would provide some support for the $150 price tag? If not, that's a relatively large sized gamble (for me anyway).

Honestly is a gamble, but I was willing to take it based on the word of mouth i've been getting around the Toledo area. Just wanted to put it out there for people to make them aware of the brewery.

Well, what is the word of mouth? Surely people aren't just saying "have you heard of Wild Side? I know nothing about them, but I bet they will be amazing because they are doing BA stuff."

I know that came off super snarky, and I hate that I sounded like an asshole. I was just trying to be very pointed. -Trying to express that any additional information would be good.

Definitely intrigued, but having a hard time finding much of anything on them. Looks like the few reviews their current sours have gotten are pretty impressive, but that's about as far as I could get.

That is how I feel. Committing to a club nowadays is a tricky venture unless you have good reason. I mean hell, look at Wakefield. People had reason to join and still got burned. In a FB group there was a guy from that area hyping them up. I kindly asked where the brewer was from because, while it probably came off as snarky, I was trying to determine why I should be so excited for them. I was hoping to hear he came from somewhere or worked with someone where he would have learned a ton. Simply telling me that they will only make barrel aged offerings isn't going to make me shell out $150. There's as much shitty barrel aged beer out there as there is amazing barrel aged beer. After the Wakefield OG club, people should be very selective of any club that they join.

Esp. considering barrel aging is highly susceptible to off-flavors and infection, a novice brewer offering a membership in a state that really isn't all that membership-happy should provide his credentials/accolades/experience.

Totally agree. I'd like a reason to believe that this guy knows how to produce excellent barrel aged beers.

Fantastic new brews in CLE by our own Bottlehouse brewery in Cleveland Heights:

Vox Maris - 13% - Barrel aged wild ale aged 2 yrs, on montmorency cherries. Maybe the best BA sour produced in CLE.
-Eventyr - 10.7% - Imperial Brett Golden Ale, dry hopped and aged in a Chardonnay barrel with tropical fruit
-Brett IPA variant B - brewed normally and then bottle conditioned with the wild yeast, Brettanomycs. It's got a great balance of fresh hops and barnyard funk in the aroma.

13% sour? Damn. Does that not taste boozy?

Thanks for mentioning that. Their Facebook page, which is more informative of what is currently available than, say, City Tap, says even more are coming next month.
