This evening's beer is my old standby. Dirty Bastard. I'm sure everyone has seen it, so I won't bother to take a picture.

Bell's Mars DIPA...

Aromas of orange-fleshed caramelized fruits, like oranges and papayas, and something vaguely dank and citric. The first flavor that popped to mind was dark orange, but there is a sweet, resinous dankness to it, and brighter, sharper fruit highlights, as well as a lingering element of pine. Big-to-medium-bodied feel, smooth, with a soft bittersweet fruit stickiness in the corners of the mouth. Dulling dark pith and pine lingers behind with some highlights of brighter citrus zest. Started off thinking it would be too much "orange" for me, but it quickly warmed and blossomed into something much better and more complex. Another great Bell's release.This 4/14/17 release features a new label, sans the "The Bringer of War" appellation, the same 10.1% abv, and a shelf life of 6 months stated on the label.

 

MY Day: Two thirds riding the bike furiously and cutting vines out of the yard, one third drinking beer and listening to loong pieces of music.

 

Half Acre makes this beer called Daisy Cutter. I'm drinking it.

Boulevard Rye On Rye On Rye, 14% ABV, 33 IBU. Pours thick and dark brown, with a two finger foamy tan head. Funny thing was that when first poured it was golden colored, then darkened. Nose is sweet malt, tobacco, and a bit of caramel. Taste follows, plus pepper and a bit of whiskey burn but not a strong whiskey taste. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent. This is limited release, but hopefully test marketing for a potential seasonal or periodic release instead of a one-off. Pretty complex taste that develops as it warms.

Took my first trip to the infamous Bellport beverage in awhile and picked up a bunch of goodies and had to try one right away. Probably not as good as Kostritzer, which I consider my gold standard, but a nice malty start which evolves into a chocolately smokiness is nice. At less than $9 a four pack, can't argue with that. Cheers all
