So Slurm is confirmed as MI Only distro? not IL love here for us, right? :slight_frown:

That was the impression I got. I could use some of this in Chicago. I already made a trip to MI for a couple of cases of F78. Ah well, maybe I will be headed back again! haha I just have a hard time doing it for a beer I have never had before. I knew I loved F78 already so that was a no brainer.

    ^^^^ Better off than Montana!

Just head to Barney's in New Buffalo, get a whiff of that Pure Michigan air, and Slurm it up with your best buds!

Shorts IPAs are by far my favorite, and I love NEIPAs as much as the next guy, but Slurm falls short for me. Good, but ill take pretty much any other Shorts IPA over it. Stormy is better, and M43 is in a whole other league.

Hey Short's Fans! Did you know next week is American Craft Beer Week? Be like me and pretend you did! Short's will have five days of fun, but the one most important to us around here (unless some of y'all wanna do a yoga and brew, or a sip n' paint) is their Monday event:

    Stolen from the website:

    "Monday:

Barrel Aged Beer Tapping and Tunnel Bear Bottle Release @ 11:00 AM

At 11:00 am we’ll be tapping 5 highly sought after barrel aged beers and releasing 500 mL bottles of Tunnel Bear as a part of our Private Stache series. Stop in for a glass or order a flight of Bourbon Ben’s Asthma, Golden Eagle, Bourbon Carrot Cake (followed by Bourbon Barrel Ein Freund), Ziltoidia Attax, and Bourbon Goodnight Bodacious while the kegs last!

Tunnel Bear Private Stache Release. More details to follow. "

Looks like I'll either have to send the family back down on their own or somehow weasel some early pours, since I'll be only there till Sunday. I swear, I have some of the worst timing at these things.

They are both great beers. One thing I like about Slurm over M-43 is it has a sharper hop bitterness. I realize maybe that isn't to style for a neipa, but it is more pleasing to my palate. My only complaint of M-43 has been not enough bitterness from the hops. This scratches that itch.

    You lucky "Mitten" bums.

I'm about to have to stop following this thread.
Half the beer release news that gets me excited ends up being "Michigan only".
Damn you, Shorts! I hate you!
(No, actually, I love you. Send more beer to Cincy.)

Got my first taste of Slurm tonight from a bottle. While I am enjoying this beer I must add that this doesn't quite reach the NEIPA style. The juicy aroma is there, but doesn't "hit you in the face" like others. This and the mouthfeel is just a bit thin and the flavor finishes with a bitterness not present in our "benchmark" MI NEIPA's.

All this said, with a price point of $0.15 per ounce vs. $0.23 per ounce (our MI baseline) this is a damn good beer for the $$ which I will happily buy and enjoy more of.......Good first attempt Shorts, just build of this and I'm confident you'll nail the style!!

    Not a fan of Slurm.

The only similarities I get from Slurm with M43 and Treehouse is the look. Nose, mouthfeel, taste all way off.

I wish Shorts had just brewed Superfluid and left this one off the calendar.

    BRING BACK SUPERFLUID

The bottled version of Slurm seems way different from the pub version at the anny party. Glad I grabbed a crowler from the pub to compare. There is some bitter twangy burn from the bottled stuff that I don't notice in the anniversary stuff. Gonna give the hops a chance to calm down a bit before I revisit it.

Looks like there's plenty to go around, some stores are getting a second drop!

First taste of Slurm....I really like it....Its not a typical NEIPA but I honestly think it is for sure within style.

I get a similar nose to others with the hoppyness....There is a flavor in it though I can't pinpoint....I get a pine, resinous flavor....But there is something else I can't pinpoint....Have they ever said what type of hops they used?

I got a second 6er being saved....Well worth having on hand for awhile.

Can't wait to grab I got 5 on it, sounds mighty tasty. Gotta admit I voted for it although Pineapple Pilsner did sound great as well. Figured whatever one lost might make an appearance in the summer variety pack.

Slurm seems like a brewery trying to keep up with a trend, but without knowing how to really do it.

This is a "NE style IPA" I'd expect from a local brewery that at best makes beer that occasionally surprises you.

Thanks for the honest response! We may make more batches of Slurm down the line and hone in on the style, so we'll see how it goes!

Hey all! Finally got to cross one of my to-dos off the list today and took a tour of the production facility. Jack totally made it worth it. But here's what we're all here for, beer release news! Got to snap some picks of releases coming soon:

There were pallets upon pallets of I Got 5 On It ready to go.

Exeter, sour ale with strawberry and lemon. Next release in the Salvacious Planemo series.

I also saw some pallets of Citra Local's ready to go. This one was released exclusively to Busch's markets around Michigan. One pallet was marked to be held for the pub, so you should be able gwt your hands on it there. It's ridiculously delicious and a perfect summer grilling beer.

Also got a peek at the canning/bottling schedule and Melt My Brain is scheduled to go! My wife actually caught it first, she really loves that one.
