What beer are you drinking now? #1708

I felt like having something dark after @DoctorZombies post so I am having

Deschutes Black Butte Porter.

The nose on this brew is of toasted biscuit,roasted coffee beans. Lots of lacing here. One finger thick brown tinted head dissipated quickly. Soft buttery mouth feel. Dry finish. 5.2 ABV is hardly noticeable, it just blends into the roasted coffee bean taste really. A dark roast of a brew. Overall it is a very nice porter.

Used to be my go-to for house parties in college.. wouldn't have to worry about people stealing your keystones out of the fridge.

We also used to make "sidewalk slammers" or "trash monkeys" out of them.. drink half of the OE then fill it back up with a 4loko and mix. Really wasn't bad, wouldn't wanna try it again though..

 

@Sabtos I am seeing them in November! I saw Tool last month and I'm excited to see APC, too.

 

I have to go to a wedding tonight and I'm sure there will be crap beer. Figured I'd at least have one good beer tonight. Love some trill

Ballast Point Brewing Co. Victory at sea Porter with coffee & vanilla.

This brew pours dark. Thick frothy brown tinted head. Nose is of sweet vanilla. Taste is quite different from the nose.Sweet anise,dark chocolate. faint vanilla. dark roasted coffee beans.Tastes alot better than I imagined from the fragrance it was putting off. Wet mouth feel. Semi dry bitter finish, but nothing a guy who doesn't like sugar or cream on their coffee would mind. Overall an interesting take on the porter style. Cheers y'all.

Looks the same though.

Light, bright yellow color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of slightly bready malt and floral hops.

Taste is mildly malty on entry with hops playing a larger role as we advance to the finish. Hops manage to be present without being bitter and the finish is clean without anything untoward in the aftertaste.

Very popular Euro Lager with the light color, texture, mild malt and hops of that ilk. No better or worse than a number of others but this one has caught on in popularity. The fact the name is easy to pronounce might be helping. It is a consistent beer when fresh and not lightstruck. Otherwise suffers from the green bottle - long travel syndrome.

When it's on it's on and worth having.

A few times a year I get together with a couple of old friends and drink 40's. Last time we had Olde English 800 and I remember thinking it wasn't so bad, especially when I got halfway through it...

G' afternoon BA's! While my oldest son is in Nashville with the wife for the high school bowling nationals, my daughter is in PA staying with friends and my youngest son is occupied here at home on his kindle....I'm gonna take some time to clean up the house. Starting with this goddamn pantry that the kids have destroyed....


It's gonna take me a little while to get this done....so gotta hydrate with a tasty local APA!
With all this beer I have in the fridge currently, I couldn't help myself and picked up a 4 pack at the grocery store today.
