So let me get this straight. I get my target tomorrow, start stalking on Tuesday, shopping on Wednesday (first hints go out too), and ship when?
    Chomping at the bit.

Ah! That feeling you get when you open your eyes in the morning and feel like perusing your favorite BA thread...and see your own post lingering because you never hit Reply. A little bit of shame coupled with a bit of trepidation to see if the thread is closed. Snuck this baby through ala an Indiana Jones tuck-and-roll beneath the closing stone door!

Took a stroll through ME last weekend and swung by Barreled Souls in Saco. They blew me away with their beers at the latest Micro Brewfest so I was excited to get my hands on a few bottles. This beauty is a rye whiskey barrel-aged blonde mellowed for 9.5 months. Light in color, big in aroma and taste:

Huge oak profile with notes of caramel, vanilla, toasted coconut and a peppery spiciness that's faint but perceptible. Absurdly smooth and so easy to drink. The alcohol heat compliments that rye-kick. I have to think this is right up there with Helldorado in construction and execution...

Speaking of construction, looks like Barreled Souls has scooped up another building down the road and will be expanding. MBC, which I visited earlier in the day, is undergoing a major expansion as well. My wife, who's no beer geek, asked the question - "isn't there's enough beer already?" Grant it this is probably because our fridge is always stuffed with beer, and I'm always visiting new spots, but it is a timely question. Regardless - if I can get my hands on local barrel-aged beers consIstently (to complement Clown Shoes as a regular source) it would be a good thing.

    Happy 4th, BAs!!

Well, folks, we've burned through another Sunday. Thanks for sharing your hot off the presses musings on the beers you drank. It warms my heart to see see many of you back here each week, and equally nice to see the warm welcomes to a few new(?) "faces."

Also, Happy early 4th of July to the US BAs (and I guess to all who share a love for independence :grinning:). Signing off this thread until next week. Cheers!!

Here's to no more weekends! One of my goals, which I won't likely achieve.
