It's a red flag for me whenever someone describes anything as "fire".

I have yet to see a single blind taste test between KBS and SMS that didnt come up STRONGLY on the SMS side

    Am I missing something?

I stated that everyone has different preferences and different tastes. At least two people (myself and someone else) in this thread prefer KBS. I don't taste much chocolate in SMS while I taste a lot of it in KBS.

To me, KBS has a lot of flavor, with multiple different notes. Whereas, to me SMS is much more single-note. This could be due to my bitter sensitivity and inability to taste much beyond bitter after a certain bitter threshold is reached. I think KBS is super balanced. I don't think SMS is balanced.

Others clearly taste more than I do in SMS. Everyone's tastes (and ability to taste) differ.

have you ever tried a blind taste test? I suspect your results would make all of your words here look pretty foolish

You seem intent on convincing me that everyone has the same ability to taste.

Would you be convinced anymore that not everyone has the same ability to taste if you knew that my bitter sensitivity was so extreme that I can't taste anything except bitterness in any type of high-quality coffee until I add a rather large amount of sugar?

Everyone is different. I don't understand why you don't agree.

True blind tastings are the great revealers and great humblers.

I've done it twice...KBS came out ahead both times. Granted, you didn't SEE it, but I can tell you it 100% happened. I've also given tastes to friends that have zero pre-existing ideas about which label has more hype, and KBS was preferred. I actually passed on SMS this year due to not caring for it as much...I would like to have tried a bottle or two, but not having distro in IL and trying to cut down on purchasing made me pass on getting a 4-pack.

I've done several blind triangle tests and was able to pick out the SMS every time. The heat on the back end gives it away. It's a great beer, but I prefer KBS.

Back on the topic though, I'm hoping Ohio gets some BCBS this year.

Why are we arguing KBS vs. SMS in a BCBS thread. FWIW, neither do much for me. I want to hear more about people not buying BCBS this year. Gets my hopes up of having more for myself.

I'll leave it on the shelf for the rest of ya'll. Not an inbev supporter. Got better local stuff anyway. Jacks Abby for the win.

Can't argue with the Framinghammer line, especially Cocoa-Nut, Mole, Vanilla and...most especially that COFFEE!

we will, inbev did an event with Lizardville in Cleveland for some special barrels. We didn't last year to due the labels not being approved in time.

I still don't understand how they swung that, since I really can't imagine they'd sold all that much GI in the past.

I was told that Lizardville has been fortunate enough to get much of the stuff that they have (that others have not in OH) because all stores end up being combined into 1 when looking at sales. Supposedly they got the only case of Black tuesday (or maybe it was Chocolate Rain) that came to Ohio because of this.

I don't believe that. Can you provide a source for this?
