Ok I just crushed a crowler of Alpha Bots and I'm going on the record now and saying it's my favorite NE style IPA here in Colorado. Having a Melvin IPA now and it taste weird after the Bots. I Iove Melvin and had a 6 pack of it last night and it's killer! Think I need to eat some pretzels or something. The Melvin taste malty. It's weird not the beer but me.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this. I think because it is in the Springs and they're new-ish, they are a hidden gem.

I had a DDH Elysium (I think it was a Simcoe version) a few months back and it was my favorite go at a NE style IPA. To be fair I haven't had any of the big boys from out east that started the party. It has been the best at hitting all the "style" descriptions. Juicy, low bitterness and soft mouth-feel. I can imagine the Galaxy version in bonkers, as it is one of my favorite hops.

I am moving north of CO Springs in a month so I will have a chance to try their different DDH versions and I am excited about that.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention my favorite local brewery, "Storm Peak" canning a few of their beers.

Since this is an IPA thread, I should mention they canned their west coast IPA "Maestro." But they also canned a dry hopped cream ale they call "Citra Lawnmower" which it seems their plan is to have it be a rotating hop series. An awesome light but hoppy summer beer. But back to Maestro, which they accidentally spelled "Meastro"

Personally, I don't think this is their best batch of it, as it came out a touch maltier/sweeter than others but I still think it is a fantastic IPA. They have moved to a new facility in town with a bigger system and they are killing it, I just think they need to tweak this one to be a tad drier - but that is personal preference.

Hops: Columbus, Chinook, Citra and Cascade so it piney and citrusy like a good west-coast IPA should be.

They self distribute so it may take a week or two for them to fill up the stores on the front range.

Anything really. Just over the Simcoe.

Citra or Mosaic would be ideal though.

Citra is already out. I know my local store (Davidsons) had it, but they hadn't removed simcoe from the shelf. I just asked and they grabbed a sixer from the back.

@Steve_0 beat me to it. Single Hop Citra IPA is on store shelves in the Denver/Boulder area.

For IPA Day tomorrow (8/3) we'll have six IPAs on tap: Juicy Banger IPA, Hop Sequence No. 7 IPA (hazy, hopped w/ Amarillo, Citra, El Dorado, and a splash of Simcoe), and Single Hop Citra IPA, plus limited quantities of Peach Juicy Banger, Kiwi Hop Sequence 7, and Citra! Citra! Citra! (w/ orange, lemon, and lime zest).

At Odd13, we are celebrating IPA day on Friday to get out of the way of all the other killer local IPA producers who are celebrating tomorrow. We're releasing 2 IPAs in cans, and will have those plus some new ones (Zero IBU Superfan, Pinkish Panther 2.0) and some "old" ones (Robots Librarian and Libertarian, Zed, Codename, n00b) on draft.

For cans, we're releasing Alpha Twins DIPA with Citra and Azacca, and QDH Codename: Superfan. Limit 1 case of Alpha Twins and 2 cans of QDH. Alpha Twins is $11/4 pack and QDH is $3/can. There are 150 cases of Alpha Twins and 240 cans of QDH Superfan available on Friday. Cans of both beers (and tons of draft) will also be available in limited quantities at The Main Event of our anniversary on Saturday. Each session is allocated 30 cases of Alpha Twins and 96 cans of QDH.

Alpha twins sounds awesome. Good pic too. How does the taste compare to Lupulin Amnesiac?

QDH will be gone for sure. Most of the other stuff should be available still on draft. I'm sure the QDH cans will be gone but not sure on the Alpha Twins cans.

They taste nothing alike. Amnesiac was much drier with some hop burn initially and huge overripe pineapple flavor/aroma. Alpha Twins is much thicker/softer, has much less hop burn, and is a much more citrus/orange focused hop profile.

I really appreciate you posting this... definitely saves me the drive up tomorrow. It's just not worth it for a 2 can limit.

Love your handle... Go to Intersect and try their 'Tramps Like Us' east coast IPA-- this goes quickly when its on, but anything else I've had from them has ranged from good to great (no duds). Also, Equinox is always recommended for all their hoppy beers, especially Space Ghost.

Also- never sleep on the Tap 'n Handle. Best beer bar in town by a mile.

Yep crazy low yield. We are screwing around with a small tank at our production facility for short runs of variants that have higher DH loads. This was our fist attempt and apparently quadruple the normal DH is a bit too high to get a reasonable yield with the geometry of that tank. Who knew?

Rather than sell 4 packs or larger quantities and sell out in 10 minutes, we set the limit at 2 cans. We figure that way it's just kind of a bonus for people who are primarily picking up Alpha Twins.

We'll probably do another larger run of QDH at some point.
