Wednesday must have been a great day. Is it a lot better than regular ''La trappe''?

I'm continuing my Great Lakes Oktoberfest tour with this example from Michigan.

This is a slightly more American take than some, but still enjoyable. My seventh Oktoberfest beer rated in the last couple weeks. I enjoy reviewing the same style multiple days in a row. It seems to favor consistency on my end. I have a fridge full to go, but will have to change it up with a couple throw backs tomorrow. I'll be back with a couple more later. Cheers! :beers:

Edit: I love the unique bottle caps Bell's are using for each beer. Someday, I'll have time to do something awesome with them.

I forgot to cancel my gas service at my previous apartment, considering it's summer and all I didn't think it'd be a big deal. Nope $100 worth of service fees and a couple late fees... oops...

    Haze for the pain haha

It was a great day indeed.

The oak aged has even more depth of taste, but you have to like some oak touches to begin with of course. Worth a try for anyone who's into beers, when you see it for a reasonable price.
    Cheers!

A nice mix of locals including the new Miskatonic ACH!toberfest a lagered Scotch Ale, and the new Revolution Cross of Gold, which I am currently enjoying.

    Slainte!

Not hazy at all, but that's not what matters. Flavor is on point.

Duvel Triple Hop - 2017 Citra Hop

    4.37/5 rDev +3.3%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

This is the consensus "best tripel hop" since 2012 - When Duvel started the five year Tripel Hop project. Coincidentally, this hop (Citra) was the first additional hop varietal used that year. I voted Mosaic #1, Sorachi Ace #2 and Citra #3, to put things in their proper perspective.

I have been waiting for months for this one as I have not had the opportunity to travel to sample this one at the source...Frustrated by the distribution, I took the proverbial bull by the horns and made my way to the closest Moortgat Brewery in my area (Brewery Ommegang), and I was rewarded with the opportunity to purchase one case (6X4) of the Citra Tripel Hop...

The last time this selection was sampled was at Taverne Manneken Pis (Brussels) in Spring 2012 and I was rewarded with an unexpected Hop explosion...Let's see what the 2017 version brings...

Poured into a Duvel Tulip, bright and clear with a rocky white 3 finger head which slowly dissipates to 1/2 finger head and impressive lacing...what one would expect from Duvel.

On the nose, bright citrus, tangerine, orange, grapefruit with the balanced odoriferous Duvel base.

The mouth follows the nose up front, through the middle and back with palate cleansing effervescence (in spite of a vigorous pour) - a complete delight!

As it warms, the Citra hop becomes more pronounced and delightful - an excellent, well made and nicely balanced tripel hop!

I really enjoy this one and many American brewers should take note - balance and moderation - if 9.5% is anything but moderation, that is...

    Thanks for reading.

Bravo!!! Wonderful post, and :astonished:...! I'd be terrified to use that gorgeous relic with the lack of trust I have in my hands.

On another note, have you managed to locate yourself appropriately for Totality?

Recent discussions have inspired me to get to the bottles sitting in the beer closet. This was a gift from a friend, and I've had it for at least a year, but never find myself in the mood for herbal/spiced beer:

Pretty good, actually! Effervescent and refreshing. I had nothing to be afraid of. Solarc Dunes, brewed and bottled by King Harbor for Solarc. King Harbor is probably the brewery closest to my house, but I've never been. Ought to pop in some time. Cheers!

    Great review!

I voted for the Citra #1 myself, but in fact I liked most of them
    Cheers!
