It has been awhile since I have had this beer but if memory serves me correctly (a damn stretch) it is the beer that got me into the pale ale and IPA world. It is all coming back! Ten years ago, had it in a Beaufort, SC bar.

Good evening BA, hope everyone had a good Hump day. Another typical semi-busy work day once again. Did my usual mid week bottle returns and mini beer haul after work. Nothing new today, going to wait til tomorrow to try and buy singles instead.

    Today's reviews:

This was a great pale lager! Great head retention and clingy lacing for the style; crystal clarity. Still well within freshness dating. Aromas and flavors of big cracker, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit malts; with some herbal, grassy, peppery noble hops. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; nice bready/grainy malt mouthfeel with a fair amount of hop stickiness. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean lagering, zero yeast esters/off flavors. Very flavorful and refreshing, 5.4%. Surprisingly awesome. This is a lager brewed with clariferm to remove gluten. Great level of hop presence and plenty of clean bready pils malt flavors for a Euro lager. This had absolutely no adjuncts at all from what I could tell. Way better than the base beer all around. One of the best Euro pale Lagers I've had in recent memory. 4

More new NEIPA. This was really nice. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon/orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, bread dough, toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced bready/grainy creaminess and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light resins/rinds and light-moderate increasing bitter dryness. Some lingering hop astringency, but not too overwhelming. Hurts drink-ability a bit. Minimal warming 7.5%. Really well done. Very juicy and dank Citra hops; balanced bready malts, with no residual sweetness. The harsh lingering resin dryness is my only real overall complaint. More biscuity/bready on malts than most NEIPAs I've had, maybe some Munich in there. 3.85

Fantastic barleywine! No pop of cork, but there was carbonation lol. Great head retention and soapy lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge caramel, brown sugar, toffee, raisin, plum, peach, fig, date, apricot, apple, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, marshmallow, brown bread, and herbal black tea; with lighter notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, molasses, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Some booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light herbal/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy, silky, rich, and smooth mouthfeel. Lightly slick, sticky, chalky, tannic, and drying. Mildly increasing warmth of 12.5%, minimal barrel booze. I guess previous batches were not that good, but this one was just incredible. Perfectly balanced dark/bready malts, bourbon barrels, and fruity Brett C flavors; with nice presence of the peaches/tea without overwhelming the base beer. Damn, would definitely purchase again to cellar further. 4.28

I pretty much agree. I have really stuck to OGs this year. Although I thought in the past that Great Lakes was a great example, it seems really sweet and caramely now

I'm a younger BA so Mongo is a classic California brew in my book. Possibly the first DIPA I ever had and definitely a must try. I wish I coulda got you some fresh Hop-15 because that is another superb beer. Port Brewing from what I remember is a Pizza Port and Lost Abbey collaboration of sorts.

Cheers and glad you're enjoying em! Final box is scheduled to land this Friday.

This beer doesn’t have much taste after the Yakima Fresh Hop from Columbus Brewing.

Moderate pour yields 1/2 inch creamy white head over a hazy yellow body with sticky lacing. Nose of hay, slight funk, slight citrus, and tropical fruit. Nice flavors of fruit, citrus, and slight funk with a very nice and easy bitter finish. Nice feel and overall, a great job from my favorite all-around Maine brewery. Cheers!

That glass was a recent purchase when I took the family to the Safari Park in Lexington area. Highly recommended for all those with kids - the park, not necessarily the brewery , though all attended with subs for the tasting.
