I just had Sticke Alt at Uerige on Wednesday, so I'm going to go with that for right now. Incredible sip

I think that the 689 years of experience does them quite well.

    Ayinger's Celebrator.

In fact, I'd venture out to say it's the only import I purchase on a regular (annual) basis. Then again, the only imports I seek are Belgian quads, and I tend to rotate between breweries to tickle that fancy.

I love German beer, but I don't claim to have much knowledge about German breweries--its hard enough keeping up with American craft. My go to for German beer is pretty much anything by Weihenstephaner, though. They have never let me down, and are one of the few German breweries I can purchase locally anytime. It would be hard to pick a favorite by them--they are all really great. But in particular Vitus and their Dunkel are both fantastic. Festbier was really good this year, too.

Anything from Weihenstephaner. Have never had a bad beer from them.

4 pages of responses and not one mention of Distelhauser Weizen....shocking

Maybe more shocking is no not mention of Brauerei Schönram that I remember. Outstanding beers, right up there with Ayinger and Weihenstephaner.

You will not be disappointed. The German/Austrian lagers/kellerbiers aren't meant to be shipped, they're best enjoyed at the keller.

    Hirsch zwickl, Rothaus Pils

German style made in America would be Trumer Pils and Sierra Nevada's Vienna.

    Always happy to try more.

You're shocked that no one here has mentioned a beer that barely has any ratings here?

I can't remember if i've commented on this particular iteration of this thread or not, so i'll input just incase :stuck_out_tongue:

The most German Beer I drink (by volume) is Erdinger Weissbier but I would say my favourite is Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. It really is the ultimate German brew in my opinion.

There are several German beers that I've enjoyed immensely over the years, most of which I've had more than once and will certainly buy again. But there are only two I make sure to buy annually...Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier and Ayinger Fest-märzen.

I lived close to the Bitburger Brewery for a couple of years, nothing better than a fresh Bitburger Pils.
    Stateside favorite, Weinhenstaphaner Vitus.

I enjoyed Ayinger.......I don’t recall it’s name now!!! Only last night bought from a bottle shop in Edinburgh and it was fantastic. Marzen type. Bugger what was it’s name?? Was a new one on me anyway and was sublime especially on a cold winters evening.
