Did you regret not drinking more than? lol. I'm kidding. Sounds like you were in the sweet spot.

Haven't been to any of their events, but $75 sounds quite fair. The few beer fests I've been to for $30-$40 and those are a total waste. For double the price - with quality beers - seems worthwhile. YMMV

If I didn't already have plans to get 2 crowns on tuesday .... I would of gone. I'll be honest - I'm not sure if my palette can discern the nuisances of all those variants, but I'd try it !

Unlimited beer and coffee seems like a terrible combo

I can handle my booze. I won't act like a fool or try, fight someone (Unless Whiskey is involved), but I do drink enough to hurt the next day.

Any sort of ambiance/band is lost on me unless it is some band I know. My wife would care though. Most of the time I’d rather listen to the radio or watch tv than listen to some band I don’t care about. Literally, this could take place in someone’s garage and I would feel the same way as long as I am not crammed in.
The food is cool, it’s probably worth $10-15 in value to me and the beer is worth $40ish. If this was $50 it would be great.

One year the cost was $60 and that included getting a bottle of BT itself. That was the last year I went, $75 is way too much for a tasting I can have at home with a french press.

Unfortunately, I had a conflict (first time missing one of these), but reports back from people I know who went were that it was well worth it. I agree that it's more about the overall experience and less about trying to add up the perceived costs of the food and the number of tasters you got. That's sort of like going to a high-end sushi bar and thinking about the cost-per-bite, which is never going to make you feel like it was "worth it."

They need to tap a keg of Wineification III so I can taste it without having to pop my last bottles.

    I definitely agree.

My wife is not a big beer fan and is even less of fan of beer festivals. I was able to convince her to join me this year and we had a great time.

    The reasons:
    • Virtually no lines for beer or food
    • Plenty of room / seating / tables
    • Good food
    • Good band
    • Small crowd
I get this event isn't for everyone. Its not going to appeal to the $ per oz guys or whale variety hunters. But for many of us that really like Black Tuesday, this is a very enjoyable event.

I guess you could say the same thing about going to a restaurant since you can just cook everything yourself.

It can be if you don't have a good strategy. I learned my lesson at the Anniversary party this year.

I've never been to the West Coast period, let alone The Bruery, but I can't fathom someone complaining about $75 for the BT event. Your average beer festival these days is $50, which gets you all you can drink of beer you've already had a hundred times and don't care for again. Food is extra, water and bathrooms are limited, it's crowded as hell, and the majority of the participants are fratboy assholes just looking to get drunk.

The Bruery's events, from word of mouth and reading on here, are casual and laidback with plenty of room and almost no lines. Light food is included, the taplist is amazing and full of one offs, and the crowd is Bruery members and beer lovers, eager to discuss beer and not start a pissing contest. We'll happily pay $395 or $695 for a Society membership, but $75 for a one night awesome event is too high?

I must be missing something. Did everyone get beaten with a baseball bat upon entry?

BT is kind of a sneaky devil. You go hard for the first hour until it hits you like a freight train. Then you slow down a bit to keep it under control. Once it starts to get toward the end you have to get a few more pours of your favorites. I did just fine but last year my brother threw up back at the hotel room after we ate at Denny's.

To me it is absolutely worth the money. If the timing would have worked out better I would have gone again this year.

Naw, no ones really complaining about the price, it was just one cheap hater.

Nailed it. Convinced my girlfriend to attend and take off the next day because of those very reasons.

Good for her and great for me too

Has anyone had the chance to try "Wee Heavy Coconuts"? Usually I hate scotch ales/wee heavys but damn this is good. I'm a sucker for walnuts which imo is super dominate in the beer, more so than coconut. Also love the murkiness of the color. Really enjoying this one and would love to see it bottled at some point

I agree to your statement. I dislike scotch ales for the most part, but had this last weekend and loved it. Cinnamon was prevalent, and was not coconut forward in comparison to last year's batch iirc. Seemed to be more complex this year.

Picked up a crowler for a friend.
