It is really amazing, but 7,50€ is high. I think I paid 5€, but I can check tomorrow. If you like chocolate and vanilla, it's pretty amazing.

Thanks for sharing that Paul and Grace doing Wooden Ships. As usual listening to that song makes me feel like wanting to go hug my children, and wanting to destroy every gun and bomb in the world.

Cheers you all. If there are voices does it matter? These are operatic voices or voices that contain sopranos. Artichoke dip with home made crackers paired with the dunkel lager from Jack's Abby. Cheers.

Here it is available most everywhere and is very good. On cask or nitro at the brewery better yet. The ultimate though is the barrel aged version-rivals all the other top examples of the style. I spied some of the BA version at a Green Bay store a few wks back and grabbed one-$18.95

A number of you have talked about being retired or being close to it so I thought this would be appropriate-

To save the economy, Congress will announce they are ordering the immigration department to start deporting old people (instead of illegals) in order to lower Social Security and Medicare costs. Old people are easier to catch and will not remember how to get back home.

I started crying when I thought of you.

    .....see you on the bus.

No need to check, I just wanted a ballpark figure. Yeah, that place is expensive, I'll grab one if I can find it somewhere else.

Some pain relief and couch time after logging 19k steps from running and walking today.

I need to drink the whole bottle to be reminded that this thing is 14%! I can't wait to see what Founders cooks up next year.

Drinking Schlenkerla Eiche. First thing which strikes me is the color which is lighter than I was expecting, it looks pretty much Munich-malt brown. They must be using less coloring malt for this one than for the Märzen. Aromawise the smoke is distinctly present, but I'm not getting the sense that this is a completely different kind of smoke compared with beechwood smoked malt. I wish I could try it alongside the Märzen, the difference would no doubt stand out in a side by side comparison, but it has lost its placement at the monopoly so no luck with that. Tastewise I think it is smokier than the Urbock was, the Urbock had a more pronounced non-smoked dark malt flavor, whereas this one is dominated by the smoke, combined with a stand out sweetness and hop bitterness. Despite the different wood used and the lighter color this tastes more like a beefed up version of their Märzen to me than the Urbock did (though it is missing the roasted malt taste in the finish that the Märzen has, which makes sense given the less dark color).

Rockin' along with our locals . . .

Dark, almost black color with gold highlights around the edges.

Aroma of toasted malt with almost toffee marshmallow scents.

Flavor on entry is is rounded, almost cola like in it's depth redolent of toasted malt without roasted malt bitterness. Not sweet, it drinks dry, yet it gives off almost a sense of sweetness which I believe is due to the lack of bitterness. Flavors last through the clean finish into the aftertaste.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

This is a well thought out brew. Malt is listed as Patagonia with a deep roast without bitterness. Don't know about that type of malt but this Porter manages to be deep, dark and full bodied without bitterness. I kid you not, no bitterness, the resident Guinness fan agrees and he would know.
