Rainy weather brew . . .



Dark black color with small cap.

Aroma of roast malt, chocolate, vanilla and spices.

Taste on entry is dark roasted malt with chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, some spice and an underlying bitterness from beginning to aftertaste.

Full texture with balancing carbonation.

This one has a lot, and I mean a lot, of flavor in that it has a number of ingredients which make the whole a bit of a muddle. Complicated without being complex, multifaceted without polish, brooding, brutish and unsophisticated like a muscle car with a testosterone pumped up boxy body that's quick off the line but doesn't corner very well.

 

Easier to post all at once rather than individually

 

Waterloo Récolte Hiver. A winter beer that is not too heavy in herbs, spices and alcohol.

I like Hel & Verdoemenis. Never seen this hazelnoot version before. Going to try this one very soon for sure (the brewery is a short drive away from where I live).

I haven't seen Wulver around here in a few years. A friend gave me one from his cellar this weekend and it now reminds me what I'm missing. Such a great beer!
