Honestly, this beer is a mess. Nothing close to the eye or cognac versions. Almost didn’t want to finish. Had very high expectations after brandy and rye versions.

Just getting back in from our hike in the tropical forest today. So much fun, ate some raw white sapote/chico fruit from the trees, collected some lava rock and even explored a beach filled with black sand. Hit up some local stands for some grinds. The tides were insane today, nice crashes coming in.

Now I'm back at the house and chilling with this little guy :

It was bottled in 2014, but it's holding up pretty well. Nice molasses notes, but the espresso and hoppiness overpowers the sweetness by a large margin. If I search deeper, I get the barrel and molasses, but BAM it punches ya with the bitter hops straight away. Cheers.

One of my favorite parts of that beer is the understated bitterness. So many others on the style have a lingering bitterness that's a bit overwhelming. M-43 is incredibly smooth and easy to drink throughout. Glad you enjoyed it!
