    Moving right along then:

Awesome pale ale! Great head retention/soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, strawberry, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel, Slight resins/rinds, light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing 5.6%. Never aggressive. Huge fan of this, Mosaic and Huell Melon hops. Big perfectly balanced juicy hop complexity from both; nice dark/bready malt backbone, with adequate lingering bitter dryness. Will definitely get this again eventually. Love those two hops. Awesome showcase. Spot on APA to style all around. 4.1
    [IMG]

Excellent Doppelbock. Great head retention/thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread crust, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, raisin, plum, fig, and herbal/grassy/peppery noble hops. Mild herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body. Great creamy/bready Munich malt mouthfeel; light sticky hops and chalky roast. Lightly increasing lingering hop/roast bitter dryness, no cloying/acrid flavors. Perfectly clean lager finish, never yeasty. Very rich, clean, and complex dark/Munich/light roasted malts, with just enough earthy hops to balance sweetness. Never overly fruity from malt. Zero warming 6.7%. Perfect style example in every single way. Loved it, will get again next season. 4

More Canadian beer, got this from a friend last week along with a limited brewery-only I already reviewed. This was excellent! Great head retention/lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, tangerine, grapefruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, strawberry, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate toasted bread, light caramel/roast malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light resins/rinds, increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very easy drinking, never aggressive, 6.2%. Color looked a bit funny to me, but it's not overly malty. Probably used Carared or something. Super juicy stone fruit/tropical hops; nice bready malt backbone, with adequate lingering bitter dryness. Wouldn't be surprised if this has Huell Melon and Mosaic like the pale ale I had earlier, maybe some Azacca. 4

Happy Multiple New Beers Sunday (Week 675), CANtinued!

Dive into some CANs is right! My next one, from Doc G's in DuBois (pronounced DooBoiz), PA came with a leviathan squid for my drinking pleasure:

Having extricated myself from its grasp, I turned to my old friend, Sean O, for help. Sean O'Sullivan is the founder of 21st Amendment Brewing & he & I have had some memorable outings on the beer fest circuit in the past.

Wow! Time to throttle back, apparently. I did not mean to depress the gas pedal quite so strongly, but I am glad that I did so early in the day. This could have kept me up all night!

    I rebounded with:

That doesn’t sound as good as the IPA I’m drinking from them. I feel what I have is fruitier. My final new beer for the night is one final can from @CanConPhilly, Ex Novo Not Too Brite

    4.42/5 rDev 0%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

    Thank you CanConPhilly for this
16 oz can poured into a teku

A- A hazy golden straw color with a two finger white head

S- Mango, honeydew, citrus, some lime zest, slightly dank.

T- Honeydew, citrus, some lime zest, some mango, tropical fruits, somewhat dank finish.

    M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A great NEIPA, probably helps that it is brewed with my three favorite hops. Well brewed and worth seeking out.

Had to have a can and this stuff isn't getting any fresher. Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing

Official review after the picture, but a couple of thoughts. It's not a NEIPA and nor does it really pretend to be. However, it's quite tasty, nice soft feel, a body lighter than a number of NEIPAs I've had, and the price point is light years ahead of a NEIPA. Does that mean I'll cut down on NEIPAs because of this? Probably not, their cost does that enough already, however this would certainly help slake a NEIPA craving when I'm feeling a bit tighter on the wallet. Nicely done.

Pours a hazy, golden color. Slight hazy, nothing like a NEIPA, but pleasant to look at. Thick, white head. Smells of citrus predominantely, notes of lemon and oranges, with a tropical note coming in thinking pineapple mostly, and a light hoppy bitterness. Taste is along with the nose, citrus with a tropical note to it. Thinking oranges, a little mango, with a slight bit of bitterness. Soft feel, flavors linger for a little while, medium body. Easy drinking, soft, juicy. In a way I almost like it more than some NEIPAs as it doesn't feel as heavy as they can get. For the price, it's certainly great.

Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch off-white, slightly pink head over a slightly hazy amber body with some sticky lacing. Fantastic nose of grape, raisin, cherry, other dark fruit, and oak tannin. Flavors of grape, tart cherry, oak, and tannin. Very nice mouthfeel on this beauty and overall, the base beer is there, but the bordeaux barrel treatment does wonders. I wouldn't say it's better than the original but very different and just as good, which, to me, means another world class offering from Switzerland.

I've been shucking oysters for a few decades now, and from 1997-2007 I was Le Poissonier at "Mes Amis" a much beloved French restaurant here in Stowe. During that time I shucked 160,000 oysters for half shells, Florentines, Rockefellers, and Bourgignons. These oysters this evening were from Duxbury, MA and called "King Caesars." They weren't the easiest to shuck due to their size, but not too bad. I haven't seen a pearl in quite some time but tonight was the night!

It's still good, but not as good as most I've had from them. Ex Novo is one of my favorite spots up here as well, and only 5 miles from me.

Edit: How the hell did @CanConPhilly get it!?

    Three Notch'd Blackberry Gose

Pours reddish-orange with a thin white head that fizzes away rapidly. Smells tart, with a hint of blackberry, maybe a note of Jolly Rancher candy. Taste is tart with a little blackberry note to it. Crisp, light body. Pretty solid gose, a little sweet, a little tart, not terribly complex. Easy drinking.

Had a good day, visited a brewery, Home Depot (there wasn’t time for Bed, Bath and Beyond) and spent the better part of the day outside with the kids in the sunshine.

    On to the beer!
I’ve actually had a couple bottles since they released it, around September I think.

Cola brown with ruby highlights. Small dark tan head, fades quickly. Let’s no light shine thru.
The nose is molasses, roast. Dark chocolate, cocoa powder. Wood. Faintest sweet cherry as it warms for 10 minutes.
First taste-roast and dark chocolate. Molasses, sweet cherry & berry, faint wood and whiskey.
    Big solid mouthfeel.

I love the regular black cherry porter. I was looking forward to this beer since the calendar was released last year. Pretty sure th barrel adds nothing for me. While not bad, give me regular all day long.

The more beers I drink from Prairie, the more I think they're not worth $1/oz. I really love Pirate Bomb, but after this one, I don't think I'll be paying those prices much anymore. It's good, and the mouthfeel is excellent, but I'll take Backwoods or KBS everyday over this.

Pours a deep black with almost no head and no lacing.

The smell is rum, dark fruits, coconut, chocolate, caramel, and raw alcohol.

The taste starts with alcohol and rum and follows with chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. It's very sweet and pretty hot.

The mouthfeel is incredibly thick and smooth like velvet.

Overall a thick and sweet beer that's still pretty hot. I'll be saving my other for a year or two.

Nothing for me this week, folks. My daughter took me to see Post Modern Jukebox at The Vet in Providence. They have Constantine Maroulis with the group for this tour, unbeknownst to us...last saw him as the male lead in Jekyll & Hyde. Hard to believe he lost on American Idol, but he did lose to Carrie Underwood... It was an awesome non-stop 90 minute show, and an amazing venue.

All ya'll carry on and I will catch up on the posts tomorrow and see ya next Sunday.

    Cheers

[IMG]Peppermint porter ballast point victory at sea. A solid black color, less than average carbonation. Solid feel, a slight bit creamy and thick feeling. Aroma is peppermint forward followed by vanilla, coffee, malt, and milk chocolate. Taste is identical, just a little sweet from the malt but the flavors are nicely balanced.

Next up for new beers is Evil Twin/Omnipollo Old Fashioned Lemonade IPA.

Comes in a very hazy, almost opaque golden color. Topped by a frothy white head that subsides into a thin film and leaves some spotty lacing. Unfortunately I have no idea the date of this beer, as they only leave a batch number... :expressionless:

The aroma is very subdued, but I get lemonade/candied lemon, crackery malt, maybe some pineapple, and that's it.

The taste is very nice, I'll grant them that. Doesn't even taste like beer. Tastes like lemonade, or even a lemon shandy. Certainly not an IPA. Sweet lemonade, sugar, lemon candy is all I get for tasting notes. If I stretch it, maybe some crackery malt, hay, and pineapple as well. Fortunately, it doesn't finish too sweet and is actually crushable.

Overall, this doesn't taste like an IPA or even a beer, but it is delicious and refreshing. I must say that I do enjoy it a lot, despite feeling guilty that I'm reviewing what seems to not be beer. Haha.

    Ommegang Bigger and Bretter

This is today's brett beer #2. It's a "biere de garde" and it spent 3 months at the brewery aging. The bottle is lacking in any date that I can see, so I couldn't say how long it's aged since being distributed. I'm slightly annoyed by the lack of a date here, with it being an expensive brewery aged brett beer in a 750 made in America.

The beer is a dull light copper and has a much better head than the Barrier beer in the previous post. I wasn't pouring haphazardly, but there's a lot of unappealing sediment in this beer (some sediment would be par for the course though). The beer tastes like berries (think under-ripe strawberries and blackberries without a punch of sweetness) and a tiny bit of caramel. There's a little mustiness and the beer finishes very dry. The malt feels AWOL and this beer seems like it's begging for more malt presence and body.

    Good Evening NBS
My 12 hour shift turned into 16 today so I have rarely been more ready for a beer...
16oz canned 12/8/17 (51 days ago) poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 8.7% ABV 73 IBU. The beer pours bright light honey in color with off white head. The head settles to a nice cap and leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is sharp citrus and a hint of caramel sweetness. The taste is pleasantly bitter caramel sweetness and citrus & pine flavors. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, sharply carbonated and semi dry in the finish. There is a little hop oil and caramel that leave the finish sticky, but in a nice way. Overall, good but not outstanding west coast IPA.

Happy birthday to @woemad. Enjoy the new beer in your glass tonight BA!
