From my experience with CASA & Good Beer Company, they require the 1 day in advance. Don't know about Sierra Nevada, but Modern Times & Hangar 24 are holding the beers for a limited time , otherwise you forfeit your beer . So their volume of bottles they are holding, is pretty small in comparison. Just to take that into perspective.

Bottom line, you aren't happy and you've moved on with other beer clubs. No doubt, you'll be happy since you won't have problems picking up your beer. Enjoy!

Great breakdown that shows that things are not always as easy as they seem. Putting bottles into boxes doesn’t seem that difficult, but multiply that times hundreds, if not thousands of boxes, and the organization alone becomes extremely complicated. I don’t think it’s very realistic to expect The Bruery to have every order prepared for pick up for any member to show up at any given time; there are just too many of us. I’m sure some days are busier than others, and they may be able to occasionally accommodate walk ups, but typing a 3 sentence email a day in advance seems to be a simple and easy solution to ensure a smooth exchange of beer for everyone.

Also they'll keep your order boxed for a week or so. If you think you'll be in the area in a few days, just shoot them a note well in advance.

I'll be happy when Bruery improves their pick up system

We are talking about a place that stores thousands of bottles of beers for years, they have shown pics of their warehouse before and it's like Costco size with multiple tiers. It sounds like they keep a decent amount of recent stuff on hand at the fulfillment center to accommodate the majority, I don't understand the argument that 24 hour notice is not good enough when asking for more than 3-5 bottles.

-The last date for pick up has been announced before you even signed up for 2017.

-It's been a 24 hour advance notification, for pick up for the past few years.

Yet you still persist on winning this battle.

    This.

I have never given CASA any notice, I just walk in and ask for bottles and within about 10 minutes I am back in the car, but I also only pickup like 2-4 bottles.

I already made one suggestion. Keep all of the beer stored at one location. Not multiple locations. Have the Society pick up at that location. Perhaps that would facilitate things? Maybe between 3 employees 5 hours would be enough time to fill 4 boxes of beer (each box is 12 beers)?

Maybe instead of me - random member - coming with ideas, perhaps the managers of the society could talk to other businesses who are more efficient at distributing their product and emulate what they do.

It's called discussion, doggie. Not trying to "win" anything. Just don't think it hurts to examine ideas about improving the system. I thought that was what this forum was for. What grand insight have you contributed to in discussions here?

Do you have to give 24 hours notice if you order something for pick up from Costco?

Your discussion is not new. Yet you continue to bring it up again.

You have beaten the dead horse into pieces.

Sure that’ll happen when they also demand pickups within a six week window. They produce a ton of beers (read complex shipping) and let us store our orders for 13 months in a temp controlled setting. 24 hour notice is a fine tradeoff.

Also as an aside, in most cases if I email first thing in the morning my order is ready that afternoon. You may have run into an eapecially busy time.

Years ago I bought Imperial Cabinet and a Maine Beer Co. collab in a public (non RS/HS) sale and when I picked them up the dude was very put off that I didn't email that I was coming to pick up my beers. I hadn't been in RS for like two years at that point so had no idea such notice was expected. He did grab the beers from the back after letting me know I was inconveniencing him.

Those were the last bottles I bought online from Bruery.

Another good point, storing a lot of member beer for 13 months on top of what they already produce.

We have beat this dead horse for pages on end in previous threads, seems like there may be a bit of trolling going on at this point, haha. If you don't like the pick up rules, join another beer club.

This is just a guess but it could be that they have other things to do than sit around and wait to pull your order. Among those things could be pulling orders for people that called ahead.
    But I'm just spitballing.

I see you'e from New Jersey. have you ever been to the Society allocation room? because I have. Every time I'm there there are 3 people sitting at computers. Not up and about, putting bottles in boxes.

Just spitballing here, but I feel like there could be a more efficient use of employee time

Like Stone? Here's their rule for picking up a single bottle of the Berlin series:

"Whenever you are able to make it to Escondido we are happy to have your bottle waiting for you! Please just let me know 72 hours ahead of when you will be coming in."

Works for me and still beats the hell out of standing in line for hours for rar bottles.
