beers are either introduced or monitored by the brewery
    they define it as NEIPA

I've always wondered about Untappd as well and how the styles are chosen. I know that I have added beers for some larger breweries as well as smaller ones. I have a hard time believing that many breweries really monitor their beers on Untappd. You definitely could have better information than me (I'm really just basing it on my gut), but based on my experience with adding beers and seeing some of the styles listed for certain beers, I'm skeptical that there really is much monitoring.

Also - I'm not debating whether Hazy Little Thing is a NEIPA...haven't had it, but was under the impression that it was their mass-market foray into the style.

Tell tale sign No. 1 is that the beer has a picture. The only user that can add a (logo) picture is the brewery account. All the details, ibu, abv, style, and name can be 'added' by any user, but if tied to an existing brewery, that brewery account has complete control to edit that existing beer profile.
Usually what I have to do at the brewery is people either a.) try a guest draft, somehow thinks its ours, and then check it in under some bizarre misunderstood name or b.) misspell the beer name and decide they must be the first person to have checked it in, so they add a completely new profile under a typo. The nice part is you're free to condense duplicates. (I know as a standard user you can 'propose' all these things, but as the brewery account you just do it)

    Do it!

(I'll admit I'm not a fan of the NW gummy beers, I think they are a mess and Hailstorm is too inconsistent for my liking. So its not like I am saying its better than Forbidden Root or something like that. But I think it holds up well within the style)

Thanks for the info - that's really interesting on the picture aspect. I just assumed other users with more knowledge of adding pictures and/or more time than me did that.

BTW, what brewery are you affiliated with? I'm always interested to know which folks from the brewing world are on here offering up good insider knowledge - it makes me a bit more likely to visit or try the beers whenever possible. You've probably mentioned it before and I've missed or forgotten it.

Anyone had Indefinite Portal at Half Acre yet? Looks the part based on untappd pics.

I've wanted to try Hazy Little Thing, but it seems like it's all old cans sitting around. I made it a point a couple weeks back to check the cans at Binny's, Whole Foods and Jewel - they were all about two months old, so I didn't feel like taking that chance.

Yea, Im not sure how old it is now, and how it would have held up. I bought it right when it came out since I wanted to see how it was fresh.

I had it a couple of weeks ago at the taproom. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but to me it was more of an unfiltered pale ale and NEPA.

I was going by SierraTerence mentioning the following in the general release thread:
Fully agree with you in that HLT is a solid beer.

Tasty but its taste wasn't of a traditional NEIPA. Sailor's Kush while also not exactly a NEIPA was closer to that style's taste.

    miss u sailor's kush :slight_frown:

After trying a few NEIPAs over the weekend I think I'm officially at NEIPA fatigue. These beers are all starting to run together, the style is wearing on my palate... I don't know if its the viscosity, reduced carbonation or what. Guess I'm just wondering if the appeal of the style is waning to anyone else.

This has been happening to me also on and off the past couple of months. I absolutely love NE IPAs, but it basically ended up becoming the only style I was drinking.
Been craving a lot more crisp beers as of late because of it I think.

I never have 2 beers, of any style, in a row. I always rotate. So I never really get "fatigue". Sometimes I'm more in the mood for one style than another, but having a hazer, then a brown, then a stout, maybe back to a hazer during a session...I never feel burnt out on a style.

I see some people that will have multiple New England IPA's in a row; if I did that I'd probably take a break for about a month after a session or two.

Not saying this is what you're doing, more a general observation.

That is pretty impressive. I'd say that you are one of a very small minority to never have 2 beers of the same style back to back.
