I just googled it and the first link has cases for 3.20 a unit

I don't see this being the case at all. MS was originally a collaboration so both breweries come together and create the beer contributing their own pieces into it. In the end, both sides has the recipe and brew the beer whenever they want. Spin-offs/variants are fair game. Omnipollo attempted MS a few times, but I don't think they were successful, especially with the whole debacle over the last canning of MS that they had to recall.

I'm fortunate that Tired Hands is the closest brewery to my house, but if I had to drive a distance to get there, possibly fight traffic on the way there and/or on the way back, and miss dinner with my family just to go buy beer, there is no way in hell I'd ever go. It's just not worth it to me. Paying a large markup to someone to be able to try a beer I'd otherwise never get to try makes plenty of sense to me.

I dunno, I think the ones that aren't called "Milkshake" don't generate the same level of interest, and this is right on the heels of a 'shake release to boot. I'd be surprised if this was anything like a 'shake release.

I see in that list mostly fermentable sugars, which if added in the brew kettle are just going to turn into alcohol during fermentation. Not like lactose which isn't fermentable by brewer's yeast.

The most recent culinary release I've attended was Are We OK? It was much closer to an ALien Church release than a 'shake release.

The crowds follow branding, not recipes. Tired Hands could package a double vanilla lactose imperial fruit basket IPA and call it a Shilkmake and there would be half the line as a usual Milkshake line.

Hows the line situation? I have to imagine the line to get into the line has already started.

Al, there has been known issues with both parties on the "Milk Shake" nomenclature.. no clue on royalites but TH did do the We are Oaky or whatever the shit series which were basicaly shakes without the fruit or adjunt purees etc.

It definitely has something to do with omni and royalties or if not royalties than $'s... what in business doesn't have something to do with $... they are charging $24... which i believe it to be their most premium price still on a 4pk... have they done more than $24 yet?

it's inconsequential to me... and i'm sure it'll be a smaller line than shake lines but probably not by a super high %... people can read the writing on the wall....

be on the lookout for some uber heady shake beer from the cafe in $20 crowlers from the dispensary... got to keep people on check and lookout.. hype hype hype hype... when's the first spont ferm beer from the home coolship coming out? hype hype hype... henry from monkish hype hype hype.... OH/Monkish collab this sat for NYC beer week... hype hype hype... don't forget a dose of Vitamin C with y0ur side of hype hype hype

Al this wasn't target at you... hype hype hype hype

As per the gram, it was to the end of the lot before noon. How does this pre-line even work? Are you supposed to stand/sit there with your chair for 2+ hours, until 2pm when you can leave said chair?

yep. Those chairs that are left there before 2pm will probably get tossed.

The irony is the allotment will probably be 8-12 cans with more than enough to last until 7pm.

I also feel that they do use the line a little bit to gauge allotment size.. So the people that are lining up super early and putting down chairs are kinda throttling their own allotment size. If they see the line is down past the athens apartments they tailor the allotment accordingly. If no one lines up before 4pm and the allotment instagram goes out it would probably lead to a larger size.

    Just a theory.

I would really doubt that Tired Hands is cutting a check to Omnipollo every time they sell a Milkshake beer. But there is some business/marketing value to Omnipollo when they throw them a bone by always mentioning them on Instagram.

I'm working on a theory that links Instagram likes for the initial release thread, to the eventual turnout. Anything under 2,300 seems like it makes it to the next day. 2,300-3,000 means that it will make it to 7 PM; at the lower end, it may sit behind the bar for a few hours. Towards 3,000 means the "money" can may run out around 7 (or before if there is a low # of allotments). Milkshakes get well over 3,000 likes, and I don't think have ever made it behind the bar.

Today's release is at 2,500 likes or so, so I'm betting it makes it behind the bar. However the weather is basically ideal for line-standing, and I also suspect that at least some of the winter releases, people have sat out the line so they can instead line up inside once the beer moves behind the bar. So I may have to tweak my theory to account for the weather. They also might keep the garage open longer to enjoy the weather.

Awesome theory.....I like it. However, allottments have to be factored in, correct?

That allotment is a little bigger than expected. I guess the on branding issue is realer than I thought.
