We're not enslaved by NE IPA's, we just like talking about them here.

 

It is interesting to see West Coast IPA’s using and marketing double dry hopping (Revolution is doing one too). It’ll be interesting to see if their usual drinkers like them more as well as what NEIPA drinkers will think of DDH malty/bitter beers

Hey all! I'm visiting Chicago for the first time this week from NYC and would love to experience as much of the local scene as possible. I'm staying around Wicker Park, but should be able to get around to other neighborhoods via public transit?

Anyway, I've done some research and it seems Corridor, Forbidden Root, More, and Mikerphone should be my must-hit breweries, the latter two offering the best look at local NEIPAs and the former two a bit more diversity. Is this somewhat accurate?

I'm also looking for any/all recommendations of beer bars--completely in the dark on that front!

Marz has a new taproom in Bridgeport that's worth a look, and I would add Corridor to your must list.

If you're staying in Wicker definitely should hit up beers bars; Map Room, Links, Bangers & Lace

 

was able to make it to Maplewoods new place this weekend. double juice husky is delicious, the armoa is killer.

really like the space but ill say the music was way, wayyyy too loud. had to shout to have a conversation with a buddy across from me.

 

If you're in Wicker Park, taking the Damen bus is a great option to check out Half Acre, Dovetail, Bad Apple, Hopleaf, and Spiteful. More and Mikerphone might be a challenge on public transit. If you do go to Mikerphone and like sours, take a trip to Une Annee too.

 

Corridor and FR are offering the best NEIPAs in the area. FR will have a great tap list this weekend with at least 4 different NEIPAs on tap. It's a must and they are easy to get to from Wicker Park.

More and Mikerphone will be difficult to get to unless you are renting a car.

Don't miss DryHop if you enjoyed Corridor. Also, if you do venture out to More Brewing, hit up Noon Whistle as well. Off Color doesn't even make an IPA, but they might be a good spot to check out as well.

 

And keep in mind that few would defend Bendy as their best NEIPA. Corridor is the shit....

 

Has anyone tried Brewdog's Hazy Jane yet? Pretty yummy and can't beat the price.
