My prayers go out to your family and all the other families affected with the recent losses. Be well. Like you said, beer is just beer in the big picture of all of this.

    RIP Craig Mack

After drinking/writing my reviews I saw your post pop up. Awesome that we both got to sample the same deliciousness somewhat randomly on this same Sunday, and amusing how we both ended up with the exact same final score, even so far as to have the same characteristic scores, even if our specific impressions vary slightly.

    Cheers!

Ugh. Time to go to bed. I almost didn't post this, but I'm finishing off my last beer of the night, and I knew I had to at least mention it.

Pirate Noir by Prairie Artisan Ales. Imperial stout aged in rum barrels. 12% abv. A delicious and complex dessert stout. Tons of dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, fig, raisin, soy sauce, and licorice flavors. It's amazing.

Yeah, agree, 50 is tough, kinda too old to do the athletic shit you used to do, and not old enough to take pleasure in reading the obits and saying to yourself, one by one, "well, I outlived that asshole, well I outlived that asshole...", or be able to do those physical things you still are able to do, and notice there are folks younger than you who can't even make it up a flight of stairs.

Hmm, better than if your 5 month old wakes up screaming, we all know what that smells like

Had this one last night from a ninja BIF box from @jhavs but didn't get it posted before bed.
    Hudson Valley Babylon

Pours a hazy slightly reddish orange with minimal head.
Smell is slightly sour with sweet citrus underneath.
Taste is sweet orange, mild kettle sour, a little peach, maybe some vanilla sweetness in the finish.
    Feel is incredibly smooth.
Overall a tasty beer, my first from Hudson Valley and a style that I'm beginning to enjoy.
    Thanks Jon!

Man, love that beer, and especially love to see one of my locals sent from New Hampshire to Georgia!

I see you praise them quite often, when I saw the brewery my first thoughts were of your reviews and excitement about getting to try them. It was quite good. He also sent an Apotheosis.

It's a tough style to do well. I love the way HV do them most of the time, but there's been a couple that have been a touch "over the top". What I love most about Mike and Jason, the brewers, is that right from the start they haven't sat still, always pushing that envelope.

Its totally possible that they filled growler up with the wrong stuff...but it was supposed to be Assault & Fudgery, a salted caramel fudge porter. Glad you enjoyed it though!

Please, take care of your family and the hurt right now. Prayers to all of you. No rush on this hobby when more important things in our lives happen.

My apologies for not posting in here yesterday @beertunes (et al) ... I threw a couple of my BIF beers in the fridge, but by the time I got home from an afternoon meeting I was having heartburn and didn't want to further aggravate it. If this thread isn't locked by then I'll post a day late when I open something tonight, or at the least I'll post it in the BIF thread itself.

Either way I'll prioritize making an appearance in Week 686!

Yeah, when I got done work, I wasn't really feeling a beer either. I'll get my mystery beer posted on the BIF thread today.
