    I have two pieces of branded glassware for EKU 28 (a paltry 11% to Sami's 14); A 4 oz snifter, and a tapered, 300 mL pilsner-style glass which is great when it's a one-and-done kinda day.

    Based on the BA lager styles lists, sorted by ABV, there are a number of lagers that are higher than 14% ABV.

    Just a marketing term,as stated before any all malt beer is a malt liquor, do remember buying Shiner Beers 10 years ago that had that term on their label. Short story, wedding group in N Myrtle Beach at a Craft beer bar having a Samiclaus, gave samples to 6 people and to a tee the all said too strong,and these were Captain,Jim Beam,and Jack drinkers.But the bar loved that I brought in 20 people to drink at 2 on a Tuesday afternoon.Cheers

    Well, no - that's not the case. As @TongoRad said up there in post #3, most US domestically-brewed beers labeled "malt liquor" for marketing reasons (as opposed to legal labeling requirements) are brewed with corn as an adjunct, often a high percentage of corn sugar or syrup to boost the ABV while at the same time resulting in a relatively low final gravity.

    As Alvin O. Gluek's 1948 patent for his process for Gluek Stite (one of the earliest American "malt liquors") said, the purpose was:
