I always love their stuff. I stopped by Saturday afternoon for some fills and 4-pks around 2:30 PM, don't tell me you were there and we missed each other!

We cracked two growlers yesterday: Vine Shine (which is always a winner), and Class Sick D-IPA (I gave it a 4.24). Tonight? I gave Peach Short Stack a 4.06, and the Rock Me Dr. Saic took 1st place with a 4.35. Some of those cans are currently on their way North to @SawDog505 and some more in the staging area to send out West to @tacosandbeer. I'd be interested in getting their feedback because I trust both of their palates.

For me, Magnify always delivers the goods, I just wish I could get there more often. :disappointed

Wild Range IPA picked up from Aldi’s. A buck a bottle and tasty with a nice hop finish. Cheers LNBA!

Wild Range IPA #2. The 96 d F temp here kicked my ass. I was not ready for that for May and working outside. Cheers!

Trying this local Iowa native Backpocket brew for the first time.

A certain BA'er over by Lambeau Field will be trying it soon too

This beer is tasting amazingly fresh, and has a ton of great fruit on the nose - peach, papaya, mango, passion fruit. The flavor is extremely hop heavy, coming across a bit unbalanced, needing a bit more malt in the recipe. That doesn't mean it doesn't taste great, cause it does! It's just a very green tasting beer. Descriptors include mango, papaya, bitter orange, a bit of grassiness and hop dust. Feel is crisp, not overly resiny suprisingly, and leaves a mild coating of oil on the palate. Overall I gave it a 4 out of 5. Really good stuff.

Man, Noble Ale Works used to be on the up and up; the world was their oyster... But ever since they lost their head brewer, they’ve gone downhill, fast. I once ranked this beer... holy s—t! A 4.74! Yep, it was that good. Just drain poured this syrupy mess though :

So I moved on to a chocolate donut:

And now another local beer, Barley Forge Grandpa Tractor, straight out of the bottle:

This Galaxy Pale Ale "pales" in comparison to the Backpocket one. Glad I only got a single of this. Best by 8/22/18.

Galaxy is such a beautiful hop. It's hard to fuck up (yet i guess apparently easy, and excuse my french). Alaskan seems to have butchered the Galaxy hop - you can bitter with it successfully, yes, (and that is the point of a SMaSH), but extended bittering additions can add intensely herbal and chemical flavors. One has to have a good hop schedule to really bring out the best when bittering with Galaxy. Where it really shines is the dry hopping, and I don't detect a single bit of that here. The malt used was pilsner, and IMO not a good pairing with Galaxy. Maris Otter works wonders bringing that bready, slightly nutty character that helps lift and supplement the hop! Really trying not to sound like a dick but the Galaxy hop is such a soft, supple, fruity hop that can also bring a special bite with higher alpha acid varietals. What I get in this beer is a pretty decent floral nose but a malty mess with some heavy caramel, ethanol, grapefruit, citrus peel, and stiff woody cantaloupe. Feel is resiny and medium carbonation. Overall a 3.64 out of 5. Not a total flop but this could be executed so much better. Glad I only got a single.

This brewery has a lot of hype; been more disappointed by them than inspired. Fortunately this beer is average, good. I give it a 4... or in the fun eating days, a 90. Brouwerij West Picnic Lightning:
