I saw a few random comments in the June on tap thread, but out of respect, the Pig definitely needs its own post. I can't even recall how many years I was going to Muddy Pig and Town Hall, when I was out from CA on business and/or visiting friends. There may have been some other beer bars around the Twin Cities way back, but all that I cared about was getting a wahoo sandwich and a sampler set for lunch at Town Hall one day and ripping it up on Midwest beers and whiskey at the Pig at least one night out of every trip. Even making it over there every few months since I moved to MN, there was always a good sized crowd in there, so I have to assume that this was fallout from carrying the Pig & Whistle for so long. I am over in this Southwest corner and Red Cow opening so close immediately impacted the PW, so I am sure that there was at least 2 years where Muddy Pig kept the doors open at PW. But no matter what the reason, we lost one of the great ones last night and at least for me, one of the places that defined the Twin Cities' beer scene before it even was a "scene." http://www.startribune.com/st-paul-s-influential-gastropub-the-muddy-pig-abruptly-closes/484693651/
Dang. When I lived closer to St Paul Muddy Pig and Happy Gnome were my go to joints. Great food and beer
