Yeah I went back and watched the end of it after @SoCalBeerIdiot posted that remark above and was like yeah that was super weird, like they had no idea wtf was going on. These are the small moments that make it watchable

I agree 100%. Look at the person they picked to be the host. I don’t feel like she’s a good representstive of craft beer culture. Golden Road has never brewed a beer that impressed me. It’s as if they were designed to sell... like they did. I feel like Tony Yannow could have been a better representative if they were dead set on someone related to Golden Road.
I know she worked at New Belgium for a while but is she well rounded enough to host this kind of show? Or did she tick some demographic boxes for Viceland’s audience?

Now, I’m only a few minutes into the NOLA episode but she has the personality of a cardboard box. She seems uninterested and uneducated to a degree, unless the producers are having her dumb it down.

I’d be happier watching Matty Matheson make guesses about beer than watch her host. Matty is the shit and entertaining regardless. So far I haven’t heard much in the way of “beer lingo”. I miss the show Sam Calagione did.

The Broad is a sellout, why even bother watching this crap? I watched one episode where she was in georgia or arkansas, can't quite recall the state but she met up with some individual that made a peach saison or ipa & allowed him the opportunity to have a tap at her so called Craft brewery.

I like the concept, but Meg is such a poor host for its execution. She gravitates to the mediocre, short-changing the homebrewers who are pushing the envelope. I felt badly for the CANadian sisters last week & I guessed early-on who her pick was going to be. There's really no mystery or hook to this show, other than seeing the homebrewers in action. Meg just seems antisocial, uncomfortable and unable to articulate anything substantial about the beers.

Golden Road is an "opened for a buyout" brewery. That, I think, speaks volumes about them.

I believe she worked for Oskar Blues in sales for a short period of time.

She is, undoubtedly, one of the worst hosts of any show that I can ever remember.

Caught a couple episodes of It's Suppertime yesterday. He's fucking awesome AND an actual cook. I doubt that Meg Gill ever brewed a batch of beer in her life.

I think the concept sucks, too. Outside of the homebrewing element, what do they have? Drinking culture? That's dumb. Make a show about brewing and beer. It's not that difficult. Get an interesting, articulate person to interview other interesting, articulate people about what they do. Wash, Rinse, Repeat. Jeebus, just look at other popular shows for a template if you've got no clue. Probably the best one is No Reservations with Tony Bourdain. He goes to interesting places and does interesting things with interesting people and HOLY SHIT is it popular!

Haven't watched, but how funny would it be if they said "No, we want to keep the integrity of our beer." Hard to keep that integrity when you sell out to a sellout.

Well, I think I said this last year, but it's a show about beer, so I am going to watch it. Season 3 has been a little different in it's structure so far, but predicting the winner each week hasn't. If you're familiar with Golden Road's portfolio, you can usually spot the winner.
Two continual problems with the show are the focus, it wants to be about brewing, and it wants to be about beer culture. It isn't able to do both in a half hour. I want more of each, and it just can't deliver. Meg is Meg, and granted, she's not for everyone.

After watching this show I have an urge to knock Golden Road beers off the shelf when I walk by, lol.

Why are you being so nice? It's a homebrewing show that has next to no homebrewing content hosted by someone with the personality of a push broom and the brewing knowledge of a novice homebrewer. I wonder why it doesn't work?

Because I'm a nice guy...most of the time. Solid points though.

I saw a commercial about the show yesterday, she seemed off. Can you imagine the akwardness without doing 20 takes of filming? No thanks, I prefer to watch entertaining people, she seems to have the personality of a shoe.

I've watched a few shows and not impressed. I wouldn't want to go out of my way this mess, it's not really all that informative and she's a wooden Indian.

I just watched the San Diego episode, and Meg is getting more annoying with each show. She's gravitated downward to be about as exciting as a pocket full of wet noodles.

The brewing is secondary for sure. I received a casting invitation for this show awhile back, they were interested in finding a Chicago home brewer who specifically also made sausage.

I did a phone interview for the Pittsburgh episode. Apparently I wasn't interesting enough to get a call-back.

Doesn't deserve to even be down here, the stuff made her will blew her $100 homebrewing kit brews to shit. Heck, even Insurgente from TJ has better beer (Xocoveza).

I would rather watch crazy Japanese games like enema contests (seen it on HBO Real Sex when I was like 13 in 1999), which is more entertaining and informative!!

I talked about this in an earlier post, but she was in a serious car accident near Lake Tahoe about 10 years ago in which she suffered a major brain injury, which I think has affected her speech and movement to some degree, hence "off."

But that said, yes, she is an AWFUL host—stiff as a board, dull as dirt, with a 1000-yard stare that gives me the creeps.

But she's smart. She went to Yale, was a world-class swimmer, and has been a high-level player in the beer brand marketing game for years. So this show was a no-brainer for her. Viceland gets content and in return she gets what's basically a half-hour informercial for Golden Road each week. So while she doesn't know much about making beer, she sure as HELL knows how to sell it.

So . . . yeah . . . that's the person you want hosting your show. The one with the major brain injury.

Sure, she was an Olympic hopeful until the car accident, but the rest of it is probably ABI. She was a sales rep. for Oskar Blues, so I guess she knows how to sell beer, but I doubt this show was her idea. Again, probably ABI.

But woody, that is the gem of the show, it is so flippin awkward. I saw it coming once she figured out their beer was infected/non reproducible. "So are there any other female brewers around here....."
