Fyi, if you're missing a pet rat, please call the Broome Co. Sheriff's Dept. (see below):grin:

Yep. :sunglasses:. An old favorite. If I'm in a rut, & at a loss for what to drink/buy, this is the one.

It's "pop" in Buffalo, but here in the better …...er….eastern.... half of NY, it's "soda".:grin:

    Evenin' all .
    To what's in your glass now.:beers: Cheers!

While I was doing this ^ , a young guy (early 20's ,~5'8", buzz cut, solid, but not excessively so, i.e., the non-descript guy-at-the-bar , walked down my driveway, cut through between my fence & the one next door, wandering through the John Deere dealer next door. Seemed to be looking for somebody, or something (lost dog?) . Before I could warn him, he half-turned his ankle, & leaned on a tractor for balance, then went around the building. . About a minute later, he returned, & went down the road from whence he came. I smelled the aroma of something dead, fwiw.
Sure enough, a police officer, & one of the owners arrived ~ 10 minutes later. After the original cop left, a sheriff's deputy was hanging around. I told him too. His response : "It's turned into a very strange call." Sometime after the guy went down the road, I saw a box in the middle of the entrance. Didn't pay it any attention, but....as the deputy pointed out, there was a white rat in the box. He (it was obviously a "he") was standing on his hind legs, in the corner, with his head under the flaps. The whole time, not moving. :open_mouth::thinking_face::smile:
The deputy, & the woman in the photo, were trying to find somebody to take in the lost rat.:beers:

Needs no description...it's that good! This is my 2nd time enjoying this beer, and if I've learned anything over the last couple of years, it's that a lot of beers have imitated it. Some do a good job, most are failures.

Still nursing the same Utah Sage Saison, but also got my snort of bourbon as stated in my first post this evening...hate to see the Van Winkle Lot B going down, but got one more bottle stashed for other beer and bourbon pairings (along with a few more A.H. Hirsch 16-Year)...loves me some vices...

It might be, but in Chicago it was 'bags' when I first heard of it, maybe 20 years ago. I heard of it referred to as 'cornhole' within the last 5 years or so.
I will never call it Cornhole.

Exactly. I've had the confidence to make myself look silly since no one has thought to do something like that my entire life since then.

    History[edit]
The game described in Heyliger de Windt's 1883 patent for "Parlor Quoits" displays most of the features of the modern game of "cornhole", but with a square hole instead of a round one.[4] Quoits is a game similar to horseshoes, played by throwing steel discs at a metal spike. De Windt's patent followed several earlier "parlor quoits" patents that sought to recreate quoit game-play in an indoor environment. [5] His was the first to use bean-bags and a slanted board with a hole as the target.

He sold the rights to the game to a Massachusetts toy manufacturer that marketed a version of the game under the name "Faba Baga".[6] Unlike the modern game, which has one hole and one size of bags, a "Faba Baga" board had two different-sized holes, worth different point values, and provided each player with one extra-large bag per round, which scored double points.

The modern game of cornhole, known more commonly as bean bags or just bags in the Chicago area was likely spread after an article on how to make the boards was published in Popular Mechanics magazine in September 1974. The game spread in Chicago, Illinois, and the Northwest region of Indiana in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The west side of Cincinnati, Ohio, specifically Harrison, Ohio has been one of the main areas of modern resurgence and renewed popularity of the game.[7] It is popular at tailgate events throughout the Midwest and has recently become a nationwide favorite, with national championships covered on ESPN.[8]

    This map is very accurate.
I learned to call it 'pop' in Chicago and laughed at people in Quincy, Illinois that called it 'soda'.
Tonic is only a specific 'soda' that gets added to gin and lime.

I’ve been trying quite a bit from Mother’s since they started distributing in St. Louis more recently. This is an average west coast IPA. More hop flavor than the nose seems to indicate:

Yeah- my mom's side of the family is from Louisville, which seems to be on the border of Pop/Coke, and I've definitely heard both said there.

Actually, the first time somebody asked me what kind of 'coke' I wanted I was equally amused/confused. Obviously, I must've gave some sort of snotty teenager answer like "well, how many kinds of coke are there, duh?"
"You know, like what kind of coke: 7 up, orange, root beer....":confused::confused::grin:
