Yea, CT Lobster Rolls rule. Lots of butter, bun toasted on the sides. I think you need a real hoppy IPA to cut through all that excellent butter fat though.
I would take a 'Gansett for sure if I had no choice but the mayonnaise style roll.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd go all in on DFH Mixed Media with a lobster roll.

The only thing I could guess is that they had to cut corners (and cost) for the photo and used krab stick or something like that. It definitely looks like that seafood salad mystery meat you get at the deli counter.

The last lobster roll I had was at Neptune Oyster in Boston. I had a Harpoon IPA with it. About three minutes later I ordered one more of both. I can taste that sammich right now!

We do lobster rolls in the tavern i work and based off our tap selection, id go with Leipziger Gose, Sierra Nevada Sidecar or Sixpoint Alpenflo. Any of these beers would compliment or contrast the lobster roll we make (fresh, i personally have cracked those claws and tails) because the roll is heavy and heavily buttered and the lobster being sweet with a zip from celery, the mayo we unfortunately use is "heavy duty" and all 3 of the beers can cut that richness.
    Cheers.

Allagash White is my first choice to pair with lobster rolls in Maine, whether it is ME or CT style (I prefer the latter).

You haven't had a lobster roll until you've been to Red's.

Most lobster rolls I have tried from restaurants just use mayo with salt and pepper and that’s usually it.
I have had this New England favorite with a Bass Ale and it matched very well.
This recipe is jazzed up a bit with red onion and celery salt and the bun contains rosemary so I would try for a lighter ale that is not overly hoppy.
I would stick with English Pale Ales but with an upgrade in quality and malt character.
Smuttynose Shoals Pale Ale is an ale that I have tried and enjoyed with food and would match this recipe.
    Mangiare and salute.

I visited Row 34 before my flight out of Boston last week. Pretty neat spot, very busy when I was there so I had to stand. It was my first ever lobster roll. I did it with the hot butter and paired it with a Rothaus Pils. it was amazing.

I had a lobster roll with a Samuel Adams Summer Ale last summer in Maine. The lemon from the Summer Ale really compliments the lobster well (as does citrus with pretty much any seafood).

If I'm on home-field eating those beautiful Fundy Bay lobsters, it's got to be a Moosehead Lager

If you're at Row 34 or Neptune Oyster in Boston, just pair it with whatever Trillium they have on tap .

Title should have been 10 great beers you can pair with a lobster roll.

There are better ways for a lobster roll to be made - but I would still eat the fuck out of the one pictured....inappropriate roll and all.

I'm with everyone here, Gansett would work just fine...as would a super crisp white wine

If I was starving, yeah me too. Maybe I just have unnecessarily high standards of lobster rolls from growing up in New England. Very few things piss me off as much as shelling out $15-20 for a lobster roll and getting a mayo sandwich. It's sorta like a New Yorker going to a pizza place out West and being ridiculously disappointed.

I understand. I visit Boothbay Harbor each summer and go ape for the straight up claw and tail in butter on a soft roll style. Outside of NE you get different sorts, and they can be good, but I can appreciate your stance and your pizza reference

lol thanks. For what it's worth 95% of the time any given lobster roll is delicious. Anything with lobster in it is a pretty difficult thing to fuck up. Even the McLobster is a pretty decent roll for the price (usually around $9). A good pizza is much easier to fuck up, IMO. Damn, I'm hungry.
