Lunch beer - Oxbow’s “Bandolier “:



A very tasty saison/farmhouse that is super lite bodied; funky tart straw floral hops apple esters.

We’re in town so I have WiFi; drinking well in Acadia National Forest - camping this week but no internet...Cheers from Bar Harbor ME!

Swinckels 'Superoir Pilsner'. Just to try. Taste is like lager, maybe mixed with a bit of pilsner. Not superior in any way.

In fact this is the premium brand of Bavaria, a Dutch value for money brewery. I understood Bavaria is no more by now and the new name is Swinkels Family Brewers. Value for money is scrapped too in in the business-plan I think. I payed 3 euro's for this can of Dutch lager ... in the supermarket (!). In comparison: a large can of Warsteiner is about 1,17.

I thought numerology was in my favor until I discovered the date code on my first choice was probably interpreted wrong since it is an import:

1st up:

The Straffe Hendrik line of beers made by Brouwerij De Halve Maan are impressive to say the least. Their Triple and Quadruple are above reproach...but it is their Tripel WILD that sets them apart. The flavors (Peach, Apricot, Melon, Grapefruit and a good amount of phenolics...like vinyl flooring, but in gorgeous manner!) Are all represented.

Freshness:

I originally thought this was bottled on 03 April 2015. However, I am thinking (being European) that it is Best By 04 March 2020. However, things like dates need not matter...two+ years into its 5-year(!) shelf life as deemed by the brewery is tasting beautifully and will clearly enjoy more time in the bottle.

Round 2:
This @foundersbrewing Barrel Aged release from last year was divisive, but I remain a fan. It has a ton of bourbon barrel character that starts boozy and sweet, yet finishes slightly bitter...I say well done, especially when employing Lager Yeast to ferment this beast!


Exactly 1 year since packaging and it is drinking very well. #numerology:


...I rest now and prepare for another overnight session!

#800 on Untappd. Every once in a while you gotta try something new. I had this on the front deck, enjoying the 90° temps. I thought this was awful coming out of the fridge, give it 20 minutes in the sun.......oh well.
