Possibly an overeager store pricing it aggressively? That's a ridiculous price even for this sucker.

Before or after tax? Either way, I think I'm going to pass, just need to now how much I need to elevate my outrage as a response.

$26.99 at Casanova's. Hard pass. Sometimes their MN beer is severely overpriced, but if that's the tag in MN too, maybe I'll pick one up in December. Maybe.

FWIW, based on a tweet liked by TG, Twisted Galaxy is 12.99 at Fort Point Market in Boston.

Any decent store barrel selects of bourbon around town? Came across an Edina Select of Buffalo Trace that is phenomenal.

$25.99 at TW. I want to try but passed. Just when I thought Surly was starting to more appropriately price their bombers this comes along. BAOW may sit on shelves at these prices.

When my Artisan rep told me the price of a case of BAOW is was an easy pass for me. Store aren't overpricing at $27-28; they're just making there standard margin. Surly is completely to blame for the high price of this beer.

Early reviews sound like it wasn't even close to as good as Eight and wasn't that around $15? Unless I find this on tap for $8 or less, I'm out.

This is where the traditional wholesale pricing method of 2x fails as it prices out of the market when a beer becomes too costly to make. If the cost of goods is $7, wholesale about $14, 2x pricing would be $28. If a typical quality bomber costs $4.50, wholesale about $9 and market price $18 then that would be about $9 for store profit and $4.50 for distributor. Use these numbers based on $7 cost of goods that would make the price point at 7+4.50+9 = $20.50. This isn't outrageous and aligns with high end bombers. It's an easier sell, same profit, and the product doesn't shelf turd.

I'm making some assumptions here, but the point being you have to price to move the product while making sure everyone gets their $ up chain. No one wins if it sits. Can't let a more costly good to create price it out of the market.

When I worked in the retail booze industry markup on beer was 25 - 30%, not 100%.

Thanks for the correction. Was using restaurant markup.

Retail mark up is far less than the "2x" you think it is.

I literally just acknowledged that directly above your post. Point remains something is messed up somewhere along the line to get it priced out of market.
