Hit a home run as far as finding beers in CT. Only had to hit two stores and found everything I was looking for besides Founders Harvest and surprised to find Sculpin so I picked up a few...

Not a haul, but went searching this afternoon for a 4-pk, and well, a single bottle is what seems to be left on the east side in Milwaukee. Last year getting 2 or 3 was pretty easy.... Not pictured are Breakfast Stout (I can't ever say no to that..) and a single of the latest batch of Expedition Stout (have a 6er of the 1/18/12 batch left, gonna try one of those and just stick this single in there to age, ha).

So you are the guys everyone is bitching about in the HF thread. Glad I decided not to go that day and get stuck in a 2 hour wait.

I'm not the guy. I wasn't even there. A friend of mine, who routinely goes up there and purchases HF on behalf of literally dozens of us, is likely the person they're bitching about. I'm sure HF isn't bitching about the $2,000 in business he did with them. I can think of worse places to be "stuck" at for two hours.

True, true but still can mess up your day if you had plans to do other things, especially other people traveling from afar, but sliver lining: at the end of the day you got Hill Farmstead. So curious what does he charge for a growler fill and bottles? Does he add a gas and labor tax to each order? The logistics of it must be crazy.

Also does he call ahead to let the staff know he is coming so they can prepare? Might be the descent thing to do if he doesn't.

Nope no issues, it took about four days for the package to come in and I'll be ordering from that site again.

He goes there to get stuff for his own HF fix and mules beers for a group of us. Never asks for a dime extra. Just for the cost of the beers and shipping costs. Of course his generosity Is ridiculous so we always throw extra on top for him. If he wants to put it towards gas, food, beer or whatever else his heart desires is fine with us.

To answer a few of your questions Jomobono,
Yes he does call ahead to notify the HF staff he is going to be coming in to put in a large order.
He was first in the door when they opened and instructed the staff to fill the sizeable order at their leisure in order to not hold up the other patrons. There was a significant number of people that came in for tastings/growler fills, etc that left well ahead of the individual with the large order. Most of the people bitching about him holding up the line are simply talking out their asses and don't know the entire story.

Little Lady and I just got back from our 3 day trip to Paso Robles. A REALLY little great town. All of the people are so friendly and helpful, the cab drivers are friendly and courteous, and literally several times complete strangers went out of their way to help us find exactly what we were looking for. Also, every car in the street will stop for you to use the crosswalk, no problem at all. Being from Downtown LA, that really kind of blew our minds. We were able to pick up dank cheeses, terrific wines, good food, and obviously amazing beer.

We ended up leaving with over a case of wine, 4 lbs. of cheese, 18 Firestone beers + 2 Growlers, and as far as Firestone goes, they really know how to show you a good time. It was a bit of a hassle at first, as their iPad card readers weren't working, but they quickly got that sorted, after about 20 minutes, and then we were in and out and drinking PNC Sticky Monkey, and Parabola right from the kegs, great food parings all over from cheeses, chocolates, great paella, and a jazzy band. They were also very generous when we left and had no problems filling 2 more growlers for us while we waited, let me taste Reginald Brett twice for free while we waited, and told me to keep the glasses when we were done. Very very cool folks. And the 1:30 tour with Matt Brynildson was great - go to taste UDBA straight off the line, which is what I ended up getting 1 growler of.

    Here's our wine haul:

The growlers are Velvet Merlin and UDBA (Unfiltered DBA).

Sounds like an amazing weekend to me. Haven't been to the Central Coast in a long while (used to go up to SLO a lot). One of my next big trips I think that will be top on the list.

Well just got back from CA picking up some new beers and some old that had just been sitting waiting for me to bring home from the parents place. Also some newly ordered scotch . So this is a pic from the first 2 boxes (another 2 are coming UPS). This pic includes 5 Parabola, 3 Pannepot (2011), 3 Bigfoot 2012 (found a random 6 pack just sitting), 2 human blockhead barrel aged, 2 PtE (2 weeks old), 1 Charbon, 2 Mirror Mirror (2009), 2 BbXXIV, and of course 6 GlenGoyne 16 year old Shiraz cask (love this release but only 2 bottles for me). Next pic will include a few more fun guys I found but mainly all normal fall releases.[IMG]

Took a drive up to Waterbury, VT with a friend and picked up 13 cases of Heady Topper. They aren't all mine, but the tab came to just over $1,000.
