What beer are you drinking now? #2108

These updates get me through the weekend.

Maybe next time I’m in Appleton, Glyffrying the gnome the can give me a tour of the garden. I see him there keeping a watchful eye on things.

A pirates breakfast with Blackbeard. An excellent bourbon barrel aged Porter brewed with coffee. At 10% ABV a most nourishing breakfast from Heavy Seas.

I have not had the Harvest Ale in a few years. Based on my rating of that beer at that time, I prefer the sherry as I drink it now over the regular. I think the sherry really elevates the beer, and that particular flavor is one that I seek in his style of beer. The calvados is very good, but I do not prefer it over any of the others.

I have a port and regular harvest that I’m going to drink later today so I’ll report back on my findings.

Missed posting Saturday - was down in Columbus helping my daughter move to another / bigger apartment in German Village....fun! At least it was not super hot!

Found this brew last week at one of local beer shops - on sale for $4.99 a sixer...not bad!

 

I ended up doing that actually half way through. I got too curious. It was indeed. Need to find some more of this. My favorite from Grimm that I’ve had was probably Telekinesis.

 

First time with this one, was surprised to see it on shelves here in VA. Must have finally got distribution.

Used to see this all the time on these threads.

Old school, floral hop presence, tastes like centennial to me. Orange and grapefruit notes round out to a bitter finish. Enjoying this one!

 

Schlafly India Pale Lager

Very attractive gold color of a deeper shade with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of sweet malt covered in piney, spicy hops.

Flavor is straight up malt forward with a polishing of bright, citrusy, resiney, shining hops. The hop flavor complements the malt and contributes to moving the whole flavor bundle forward. Not a complex group of flavors buy tasty. Finishes clean with a bit of hop firmness lingering in the aftertaste.
