Hoppin' Frog Barrel Aged D.O.R.I.S. The Destroyer Double Imperial Stout, 10.5% ABV. Pours black with a light ring of brown head, left no lacing. Nose is roast malt, moleasses, cocoa, bourbon, and slight licorice. Taste is bourbon, sweet cocoa, roast malt, with a moderate bitter close. Decent mouthfeel, overall excellent.

I feel you man.. I took a couple weeks off and ate pickles with every meal just to reset my palate but I honestly feel its up to the brewers to step their game up and shock us after all These ipas aren't cheap. You should try a brut ipa

2012 Old Guardian from Stone. A classic, and one that I have missed since they discontinued it. An iconic beer for me, and an amazing barleywine. Cheers!

Been there and done that. I honestly think the beer I enjoyed most this year (and one I've had before) was Hop JuJu. That's an amazing beer that doesn't need an orange juice hue or people standing in line to drive the hype. @WesMantooth, can I get a witness?

Another revisit. I always thought this one was pretty good, but it's tasting even better than that tonight.

I'm with ya. It doesn't seem like these non-BA American barleywines are getting much love. I rarely see Bigfoot, another one of my favorites.

Well this will probably do it for tonight. On my adventures through the world of DIPA's I must call it quits and resume again tomorrow. The final DIPA tonight is from Stone, it is Fear Movie Lions. A shot at trying an unfiltered N.E. style hazy juicy IPA. Fortunately they balanced it with a slight maltiness and turned out a real good brew and not a fruit juice.

Keep drinking IPAs for us both. I'll probably change my attitude in 24 hours. Ha!

Thanks @GreenBayBA. This was excellent! Fantastic head retention/soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, vanilla, cream, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of nuttiness, dark fruit, herbal hops, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; with a very creamy/silky/bready malt/lactose mouthfeel. Slight sticky hops, chalky roast, and increasing dryness. No cloying. Very smooth, minimal warming 5.5%. Very impressive! Very rich/complex malts with balanced lactose/cocoa nib flavors; restrained English yeast and mild earthy hops against sweetness. Perfect milk stout style example. 4.03

New big lake NEIPA. This was delicious! Fantastic head retention and lasting lacing on the glass. Flavors of big lightly tart/tangy blueberry, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dought malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel; some resins/rinds, and slight fruit tang/acidity. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, not aggressive, 5.5%. Identical to the base beer, with added blueberry notes that aren't overdone. Great Citra/Mosaic profile. Great balance of juicy/dank/earthy hops and authentic blueberry flavors; nice pale/wheat malt backbone, with no residual sweetness from dryness. A bit more bitter/drying than expected for an NEIPA, but definitely a very enjoyable and well made attempt at the style. Blood orange was better. 3.91

@TheIPAHunter said Mike you are drinking too many IPAs. Branch out. So I did. Having an NC beer that is not an IPA.

Beet juice. now that's something I haven't tried. Had plenty of beers brewed with beet sugar but not juice.
