I went back to Trader Joe’s for 2 more 4 packs after trying some cans. I pretty much *never* do that with expensive hazy hops unless I’m buying on vacation. Now a believer in the Pipeworks haze program

I thought about grabbing two yesterday. Grabbed one 4 pack and a Ghost Topic 4 pack. You're making me question my decision.

Hmm interesting. Which Mikerphone beer came to mind?

I personally find Mikerphone’s IPAs to be extremely overrated.

There was a time when they were the only one doing haze decently in the region, but they’ve been surpassed by a number of places.

I'm not a fan of the Mikerphone IPAs and I feel like Velocity of Light is one of the best in the region so my palette has left me scratching my head after this.

Why is everyone singing the praises of VoL? What is so different about it than other NEIPAs in town? Just that Pipeworks finally nailed the style? First 10 minutes it tasted just like FR's NEIPAs, as it mellowed and lost the hop edge it tasted like a poor man's TG beer. It was a good beer, but I didn't get the experience of a mind blowing beer that everyone else seems to have gotten.

King of Borgs was much better, and I enjoyed Supremium slightly more as well.

a solid beer but I don't get the high praise.

Any of his IPAs that taste the same, usually his mosaic ones. Anybody that is familiar with his lineup will agree VoL is extremely similar.

To each their own. I find Velocity of Light to be top notch and on par with the best this city has to offer. I find Mikerphone to be the most overrated brewery in the area.

Just to clarify, i'm not saying Mike is the best. When i'm comparing VoL to him i'm just referring to the flavor. I totally believe he was surpassed a while ago.

Anyone see some Untappd check-ins mention BA Murderous and some ‘off-flavors’?

All of the comments came from a Toronto beer fest. Either Canadians don’t know WTF they are talking about or there is something to it. Anyone open their bottle and encouter anything that’s off? I was planning on opening one myself in a couple of weeks when a friend gets in town, but I’m curious if anyone can confirm the Canadians’ experience?

No - did they mention what the "off flavors" tasted like?

    the 2 people who actually described it said;

A bit cheesy. Odd. Flat & bland.

Sweet fruity, and caramel. Something off with this.

the second comment is one of the more self-incriminating statements i've ever had the pleasure of reading

LOL @ the second one ...

The first one is interesting - cheesy is a weird descriptor. As for the carbonation, barleywines tend to be more lightly carbed. Id be more concerned if it was overly carbed.

@eppie82 - how haven’t you toggled the “don’t show reviews from Canadians, people who drink beer too cold, and time-travelers” switch yet?
