My last Commonwealth beer from the Virginia trip, Big Papi, and despite all the new CW IPAs I tried I’d have to say this was still my favorite. Still tastes damned good. Virginia’s really got some good breweries now, so cheers to them.

A fantastic soured oak aged Biere De Garde from Jolly Pumpkin. I think I need to start buying more of their stuff. They are consistently excellent:

@Greywulfken - who's making that? Can't tell... I only think of Half Acre's Space IPA but that looks good. Thoughts?

This is very much a movie I’m looking forward to seeing. One of my favorite actors and one of my favorite singers.

Definitely seems Crazy Heart-esque, but that’s not a bad thing.

Still missing a few macros. This was very solid. Solid head retention and minimal lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malt; and light herbal, grassy, peppery hops. Some fruity corn aromas/flavors, but not overwhelming. Mild herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Bready/grainy malts and light sticky hops in the mouthfeel. A bit thin, but not watery. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/carbonated dryness. Very clean lagering, no yeasty notes. Very flavorful/refreshing, 4.5%. Touch of an odd metallic flavor note near the end of the can. Clean pils malt/grains, and solid earthy hop presence/balance. Not overdone on adjuncts. Enjoyable. Middle of the pack on score for the macros I've had. 3.4

Delicious Irish red ale. Fantastic head retention and soapy lacing on the glass. Flavors of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, and nutty malts; with lighter notes of plum, pear, red apple yeast, roast malt; herbal, floral, grassy hops; and yeast earthiness. Similar/muted aromas; a bit too fruity/yeasty, but not overwhelming. Mild herbal, floral, grassy spicy hop; and roast bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium body; very creamy/bready/grainy malts; light sticky hops and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringency. Very smooth, 5.5%. Nicely clean and rich dark/bready English malt complexity; restrained fruity English yeast and mild earthy hop balance against sweetness. Very spot on stuff. 3.91

A relaxing morning turned into numerous afternoon projects. I'm calling it quits and kicking back on the porch with a Shivelight DIPA from Outer Range. Nelson, Citra and Golding hop magic!
