Upon recommendation, I’ve moved on to another pub to drink “Summer Lightning “ a golden ale by local brewery Hop Back Brewery:



Pretty average with lite floral hop taste. Off to meet up with Mrs. Z - Cheers from Salisbury UK!

 

It's a good day for Pilsners but I could say that about most any day . . .




Very light yellow color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of bready malt and herbal, floral hops.

Malt forward taste on entry with warm rich tones that presents a mellowness that actually seems sweet. Hops are low key and standing aside to make a clear path for the malt. I get hops in the scent more than in the taste but there is just the slightest hop edge that appears at the finish and carries over into the aftertaste. Not really my idea of a Pils but as a Helles it'll do.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Overall I get a sense of sweetness from this beer, a mellow roundness so to speak. Hops are present only in the "hey, we're here too" sense. Very low key hoppiness should make this a crowd pleaser. Good match with food and casual company.

But for real, one of my favorite beers ever made and I CANnot wait to get more than a few 4 packs of this tonight!

 

I'm still planning on doing a blind tasting on this one anytime soon. Comparing the bottle and the can.

I'm going to Britain myself next month. And I hope I get the change to stop at Manchester to visit Cloudwater.
