This is a terriffic beer, it goes beyond the hazy to great balance for a 10% abv beer. Sometimes when they get this big the malt is also a bit too big, tend to be sweetish, but this beer has a nice strong upfront fruit hit and it finishes nicely bitter, and really a terriffic finish. IMO this is where a lot of the Dipas/IPAs kinda lose it. Nice showcase of moasic/ Citra/ Simcoe hops. The bitter stays on the tongue long after its gone, love a dominant finish on any beer.

My target is a known to not be a fan of AB. I sent him a Bourbon County in a box shipping out tomorrow anyway. I guess he has the option of doing some kind of French press treatment, but I think he will just enjoy this one in all its aged glory.

They are pretty cute. Are they full happiness and Marsh Mallows?

Which begs the question, how do you sit at the bar and have a few? At 10% these boys would be dangerous. Twos just short of a full bottle of wine, 3 is a bottle and a half. Need a partner.

Next time it’s coming to you in a lead box!

Recapping with half or a whole vanilla bean has been a success for me. Usually 24 hours is prime. Vanilla KBS should be a thing!

    Hmmm...sounds like a broken truce

Glad you liked it! Many consider it the best APA brewed in New Jersey.

Whole bean and not cut up or sliced down the middle? I’ve heard a lot of different ways to do a nilla bean, but I might just wait till this years vanilla release and try to trade for one of those. I kinda like the idea of being a mini beer mad scientist, though.
    Also, love the McGruber!

I popped my Arkansas cherry with this beer. Damn delicious.

Pours a nice reddish color. Not too clear. The head is 1 finger, reddish/white. The retention isn't the best, and no lacing on the glass.
The nose is really nice with a tart raspberry aroma. Quite pleasing.
Taste - It starts out mellow, then the tart raspberry flavor really kicks in on the backside.
Feel - Even though the head didn't last long, there's a bit of carbonation dancing on my tongue. The tart feel does linger in my throat. Lighter bodied, but not watery.
First beer from this state, and it's quite delicious. It would be a perfect beer to enjoy on a hot summer day.

    Thanks again @jdell15 .

These are served in 12oz snifters when they are availible. Also, it’s a festival beer only brewed once a year. The rest of the regular lineup is in the more palatable range of 4-8%, with very few bigger offerings.

Ha, those look like they're bursting! Those might be the first porch bombs investigated by USPS because they suspect they are actual bombs. :grinning:

I wouldn’t argue with that. I had a couple Kane beers when I was in Spring Lake earlier this year. I wa too far away from any breweries to visit, but a couple places had decent tap lists. This tops anything I had out there.

Ah, makes sense, this is seriously good and I'm not sure I could be limited to 2. I'd have to bring my wife so I could wobble home I guess.

    Drink that Yellow Rose.

    Now.

Either half or whole, slice down the middle. Depends on how much vanilla you want. BCS, KBS and Backwoods Bastards have all been delicious science experiments

That was my favorite of the bunch - by a lot.

The base beer (Double Thai.PA) is also excellent, IMHO.
