That's a very good reason not to participate. I hope your little one gets better very soon.

    I remain skeptical.
On the plus side, good way to start off a new week.

Reviving a topic that came up on yesterday’s NBS thread. I ended up drinking 8 new beers yesterday (thanks to y’all), so posted 8 times on NBS. Should I not be doing that? I’ve been treating NBS as a more detailed WBAYDN that only happens on Sunday, but maybe that is not the intent of the thread. Curious to hear some opinions on ideal posting frequency. Should I just be picking 1-2 to post, and leave the rest for WBAYDN?

I post the new beers, regardless of how many. They're not always separate posts; sometimes I have a few, and then catch up on the thread. Usually, though, each new beer gets a new post.

I don't mind seeing a ton of posts from individuals. It's not like there's a limit to the thread size (as this thread pushes toward triple digits!). I don't know if it bothers other people to see the usual suspects posting frequently, but it certainly doesn't bother me.

I post most Sundays with just 1 beer. I have a tendency to have beers while doing house projects and other things. Reviewing every new beer I drink would be a fairly tedious task, so I usually review 1 and simply enjoy the rest without the stress of having to be attached to my computer while I drink every beer. Sometimes I will have a “free” Sunday and will post a few times, but just because I have the time to relax and review.

That makes sense. I just don’t want to be spamming the thread if it is meant to be a more curated selection (as I think @woodychandler was implying). I’m fine with whatever is decided, since I’m relatively new to NBS and still am getting the hang of reviewing beers with my bizzare palate.

I am happy to see and read about any new beers that anybody has. The only ones that I don't like seeing and am a grump about (and thus don't 'like') are low-effort ones, ones from people who don't participate at all week after week despite posting pics, and ones where it is obvious that they are not drinking that beer on Sunday or that it isn't new to them. Luckily these people are in the minority I find.

My opinion is basically: the more the merrier, but you should respect the purpose of the thread (reviewing a new beer on sunday).

As long as we're talking about the "greater purpose" or whatever, I'd love it if all the reviews from NBS were put on the database too since it would make the site better, but you can't win them all. That said, it does slightly miff me when people say right in the post that they reviewed it on untappd but not here. Oh well...

Are you me?? Although I review them all if they're new, I just don't usually post every one.

You have a bizarre palate? So was the meat IPA not a fluke?

I taste meat a lot. Citra hops always are involved. I get cheese, garlic, and onions quite a bit if an ipa is more than a few weeks old. And don’t get me started on dank. If there’s even a hint of weed that’s all I will taste. My reviews are not to be trusted :no_mouth:

I'd say review your new beers and post, it doesn't matter to me if it's in one post or many. Just enjoy it. I only do one or 2, but that's because I get on so late, and can only do one or two.

Huh, interesting. I wondered why the weed taste was such a big turn-off for you on one of your beers yesterday. Are there beers that you feel like you are more capable of tasting than others? I know that people go back and forth on whether "supertasters" are actually a thing, but I've always heard that non-subtle flavors can be pretty unpleasant for them.

Also, if you've never used a neti pot, I highly recommend them for anyone that reviews beer, but especially if you smoke/work somewhere with particles or smells frequently in the air or live in a city. You don't have to do it every day. I maybe do it once ever month or two and it seriously makes a noticeable difference. It'd be interesting to see if it tweaked anything in how you perceive certain flavors/beers, especially if you've never done one before. Just a thought.

I always thought that the thread was to post all the new beers you drink. I think I posted 3 yesterday.

We have gotten M-43 here in GA recently, looks like it along with Cart Horse and Boss Tweed are dropping again this week.

That would be highly unlikely that I were you. After all, I am the same person as @ovaltine . That would mean I have multiple-mtiple personalities!!! Whoa, I have to step back a minute to process all this.

I try to post what I drink if I am home. Yesterday I posted 2 some Sundays it might be 4 or 5. If I have a new beer at home I post it there.

Hmm. I am rarely implying & NEVER CANplying, which is why I am usually relegated to a curated corner for a richly-deserved timeout. I simply have SO much beer in abeyance that I like to make my Sundays an opportunity to do a brewery and/or a style horizontal. Bizarre is good in my eyes & if spent CANs are rinsed & set side, I like pick-ups with lunch included! ;=)
