Since it snowed yesterday and is oddly quiet here at the moment I figured I’d take out one of mystery beers from @2beerdogs .

I am currently feeling like a cold is coming on so don’t laugh too hard if I’m way off!

    Obviously it’s a brewery cap.

Pours a thin brownish shade and head recedes very quickly.

I swear this is a barleywine of some sort. Color is right, sweetness is there too. Reveal coming as soon as I finish this one. Tasty so far!

I love the wrapper for this one Derek!

Welp @2beerdogs i guesses completely wrong! I was however right about the alcohol! So there’s that....

Apparently The Bruery does limited bottles for limited members. I did not know this. Pretty cool indeed and even cooler that one showed up at my door.

    On the Pron.....

An ale aged in Bourbon Barrels with apples, vanilla and spices. I realize I was wrong in the initial guess but after seeing the beer I’m definitely gonna call the guess a victory of sorts...

Many thanks Derek for a very enjoyable treat! Never knew about the Hoarders bottles and certainly never thought I’d see one!

    Cheers Boys!

I could see the apple in this giving a barleywine vibe

It was sweet glorious booze up front. Coupled with a brown color I thought Barkeywine for sure!

    It was pretty damn great!

I'm finally a little less occupied and can enjoy some of the monster beers sent to me by @Ozzylizard . I'm trying this BBA imperial stout from Texas as we speak while I finish up brewing some beer on this cloudy fall day.

    Serving: Can
    Canned: Apr-18-2018

    A:
Pours a thick opaque black with a nice finger and a half of foamy tan-brown head that eventually dissipates. Ok retention; some lacing. (4)

    S:
The aroma is mainly candied nuts, a big bourbon vanilla note and coffee roast smells. (4.25)

    T:
Flavor follows with an emphasis more on the coffee. This is followed immediately by a really smooth, thick toffee sweetness from the barrel and a more oaky, dark-fruit-alcohol-ey finish. (4.25)

    M:
Smooth and rich as could be with a soft lingering aftertaste that mellows with time from oily roast cashews and toffee to a bitter roasty tingle. (4.5)

    O:
This is a very nice beer that pretty much is perfectly balanced on my preferred barrel character for a beer like this. You can taste the barrel and the whiskey but they play a supporting role and enhance the base beer. No harsh booze, really smooth soft vanilla-caramel character. I love nutty malt flavors/smells and this bad boy has got them in spades. Just genuinely good and enjoyable. (4.5)
