Retailers in SE MI will absolutely be breaking up 4 packs

If it's 350 bourbon barrels, then it's like 50,000 four packs for distro(or right around there). I still can't imagine retailers breaking them up with that amount of beer. That's a lot of beer.

With that much beer being distro'd?? I just can't see it. Has to be a shitty retailer...

It was sarcasm based on how beer hype is often built around perceived rarity. Sorry if I didn't come off that way. It does sound like there will be alot, and hopefully the fun gets spread around.

Independent stores probably will, let's see how much the chains get. What's your definition of a shitty retailer in this instance?

If only you knew the distro scene in southeast MI.

For me, I can't wait to get a 4 pack so I can douse it with some Cinnamon Toast Crunch and toasted coconut. :stuck_out_tongue:

A retailer that does it just to maximize profits? Even though they're intended to be sold as 4 packs.

Some retailers split things up in 4 packs not necessarily to maximize profits, but to spread the beer around to more people (although lots of folks still break them up to make profits). It happens here in Chicago as well sometimes, whether it's King Sue, Odd Side BA beers, etc.

I think it happens so much in SE MI because their distro just sucks in terms of the amount of beer they get. A few years back when Black Note and KBS were both still pretty tough to get, I was able to get them much easier than my brother could in suburban Detroit (and I even bought some here to bring to him). There is something really strange about the distro back there.

Yeah, I get that. I just know many likely do it to maximize profits. You're doubling your money on your inventory, at the very least. It's no different than my local liquor store selling BCBS variants last year that were priced $25 from the brewery, but sold by them for $35-$50.

@croush pretty much summed up my response. I sometimes sell something in singles at standard mark up just to spread it around. The distributor for Bell's in the Detroit area is notorious for playing games with allocations. I don't buy stacks of shelf turds from the distributor just so I can get extra allocations. I would rather keep my integrity and sell singles than knowingly buy old beer just so I can say how much more I got than my competition.

Oh cool -- we can try it on tap first, then decide whether it's worth buying bottles! :stuck_out_tongue::stuck_out_tongue:

Since bells seem to be making more this year I just hope the beer is as good as the last two years. Seems like whenever a brewer ramps up the production of bb aged beers you seem to loose the great barrel character from previous years

I should be there around 10:30 Monday. Any word on allocations Monday?

Yeah, I know, I was saying that they use the same base for everything, including Maman (Prodigal, which you linked to for those that don't want to click).
