After 4 hours in the ‘fridge, I had to move the beverage to the freezer to get the liquid down to 38 degrees...let’s see what’s going on now with Funky Buddha’s “Save Some Room For Later”, German Chocolate Cake - a double brown ale with coconut, chocolate and vanilla added:



The metal/tinny flavor I disliked at 57 degrees is gone. The liquid is so cold the only aroma is coconut. The taste is mildly nutty, then coconut with chocolate showing up as the beer warms as I peck these thoughts on my iPhone. No vanilla yet. Still silky good and less greasy feeling.

Overall, I question why a beer needs to be so cold to drink, but I can attest that it does taste better and the feel is more agreeable. I also note that at the colder temperature this beer was easy to drink and I drank it faster...in short, if you have this “small batch” beer, drink it as cold as you can get it...

Good evening BAs! It's 2040 here in Bamberg, dark and getting cold. I've been drinking lots of bocks and not-bocks, hitting maybe up to six bier stubes a day for at least one half-liter. Let me tell you, all German beers are NOT created equal.



This was quite tasty.



This bock was not so good - one and done.

 

I've been on high lookout for that one. Hope it makes it way to NY. Enjoy

New beer from Trillium. Very nice East meets West IPA. Sweet and citrusy but also earthy as hell.

That's a good one... you need to get to Total Wine already. I think they have that. Call in advance if it matters. I could have sworn they have McEwan's too (?) ... but as I mentioned: probably old bottles, but perhaps as new as we'll ever get for the time being. Don't know.
