Awesome NEIPA. Lasting head retention/thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of huge apricot, peach, pear, pineapple, lemon, orange, grapefruit, passion fruit, papaya, mango, watermelon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with spicy rye, lightly toasted biscuit malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness; and rye spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/spicy dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 8.6%. Feels like Azacca/El Dorado. Tons of stone fruit/tropical notes. Extremely juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; great rye/bready malt backbone, minimal residual sweetness from lingering dryness. Not as hazy or soft as expected, but still delicious. 4.13

Rum barrel edition. This was fantastic! Nice head retention, and light spotty lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, plum, prune, fig, date, apricot, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, rum, toasted oak, and brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, vanilla, molasses, licorice, leather, tobacco, pepper, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Some increasing rum booze in the aromas, but not overwhelming. Light herbal/grassy bitterness and rum/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation, and fairly full body. Very creamy/silky/bready malts; light slickness, stickiness, and rum/oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering spicy/tannic dryness, no cloying/astringency. Lightly increasing warmth of 17.5%, mild lingering barrel booze. Dangerously smooth sipping. Rum barrels can be polarizing in any beer style application, but they still pulled it off. Amazingly balanced rich malts, fruity yeast, and rum barrel integration. Not overly boozy/tannic on barrels. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering tannic dryness. Not as amazing as other barrel variations, but I have always been impressed with any of them. 4.25

New Haken album is awesome. Wish it was longer than 45 minutes.

Sure... don’t break that out when friends from DC come to visit.

What?!? Going to a guy from PA for your DC beer? Probably easier than heading out here again, I guess.

I hope so! Which means you probably have good reason to hold out hope.

May serve you right, see above.

All right, apparently a Nor’easter is wreaking a bit of havoc on us here. Now I know how LA feels
    A nor’eastern beer for me:

Which reminds me, I'll be in DC in a week. However, I'm staying downtown with no rental car. So if you and the GF want to come downtown, let me know. Or, apparently there's this thing called Uber that could take me anywhere.... Or the Metro....

Post Card is a sour DDH IPA. Right now I'm trying to decide if this beer is extreme or uncompromising . It actually takes a couple of sips to get acclimated to the potent sourness with such an abundance of raw hops you feel like you're chewing on a cone. Sensory overload fer sure! But then I'm starting to get into it- pretty tropical in nature, like guava nectar with a sweet-n-sour kick, balanced by just enough citrus peel and evergreen bitterness. It's a really interesting ride, Corey, and thanks for sending it my way.

This is a delicious under the radar beer...Schell’s Citra Blanc American Pale Lager. It’s not unlike Victory Homegrown or Sam Adams ‘76. Crisp, dry, peppery lager finish with fruity/floral American hops. I wish I were in Schell’s distro footprint...alas this came in a box from a MN buddy.

    ‘‘Tis a beautiful can too...

I usually get bored with drinking the same beer one after another, but not with this one.

@vabeerguy threatened seafood pictures a while ago, here’s mine. We had blackened tuna, oysters rock, and wasabi slaw I made.
