Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz tulip glass bottled on 10/01/18 weighing in at 12% ABV. Pours a a very slick black with a finger plus dark tan head that leaves spotty patches of lace as it slowly settles into a thin ring of bubbles. 4.25

Smell is dark chocolate, vanilla bean, coffee beans, Heat from the peppers, some booze, and maybe a hint of smoke, really well balanced and pleasant as heck. 4.5

Taste follows cocoa, expresso, vanilla, chili peppers, boozy rum, and some Smokey heat on the back end. 4.5

Mouthfeel is bigger than medium, moderate life, a tad dry, and drinks pretty dark easy at its size. 4.5

Overall once again Clown Shoes produces a great Imperial BA Stout that makes your nose and palate dance, really an excellent beer, but if your can’t handle a little heat get out of the kitchen please. 4.5

Damn, that sounds amazing. I love Mexican-style stouts, and Clown Shoes' barrel-aging game is always stellar.

Amazing fruit beer! Murky Ruby/Purple color. No head retention/lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge juicy/lightly tart/tangy strawberries, blackberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange juice, peach, plum, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, white bready malts; light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light fruity/lactic tartness, and fruit tang on the finish. Light carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/pulpy fruit; with light lactic acid, fruit tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering tart/tangy dryness. No cloying/puckering. Insanely refreshing, not overly lactic, 3.4%. This was way less sour than the Peach/Passionfruit version. Insanely huge berry jam flavors; with balanced fruity Lacto complexity, and pale/wheat malt sweetness. 4.32

This was amazing! Awesome head retention/spotty lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, coconut, fudge, marshmallow, brownie batter, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of coffee, molasses, licorice, raisin, cherry, date, tobacco, and smoke. Some increasing booze in the aromas as it warms, but not too overwhelming. Mild herbal/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Slight sticky hops, chalky roast, and bourbon/oak tannins. Slightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness, no cloying/acrid roast. Dangerously smooth sipping; mildly increasing warmth of 13%, minimal barrel booze. This nails it for a dessert style as expected. Amazingly rich malt complexity, with perfectly balance flavorings, and barrel integration. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Well worth the price. 4.38

I drank a pint and a half of this today.

    It's pretty good.

    Dry roasted peanuts.

    But more importantly, beer.

Man, what a surprise. I’ve been let down by Modern Times non-barrel aged stouts (nitro at that) before. So upon purchasing this one, don’t mind Raul if he was feelin’ a lil leery. But what he got was like Emeril in his hay day. I’m talkin’ bam! Smooth ass velvet, roasty, coffee nitro go boom!:

Well Ill be damned, look at what we have here @Sixpoint

Talk about being unfiltered, this one poured out a thick, and creamy opaque body right in line with many of the heavy hitters.

Mosaic seems to dominate the nose but there is this every so slight presence of a German influence in the from of the Mandarina Hops

Well Done brew for what they were aiming to brew!

    Cheers!
