Usually when I surprise people in person at work they are less appreciative then you were. Right @rspauldi ?

And I got return fire but got distracted by a really good tap list en route home so will post details later...

Dang, @winehead247 - this was an awfully nice gesture. I really appreciate the box!

    Check this out, guys:

That imperial doughnut stout has me PSYCHED. I love doughnuts - my last doughnut beer was Burial's Skillet Donut and that was terrific. I'm expecting great things of this beer.

Thank you, Blake - this was a very pleasant surprise (I don't have UPS notifications anymore, apparently). I believe everything in this box is new to me - well done, sir. Cheers - I look forward to returning the favor!

The first part is definitely tough, but Randy is actually a very popular name among unicorns...

@brutalfarce and I probably live within an hour of each other, that combined with his style preferences made it tough for me to find stuff that he can't get himself. For some reason Bell's doesn't distribute to CT, so that was most of the box.

Nice box(es) lately @winehead247 -- and I'm doing the damn "too many posts in a row" thing again...

OK -- so luckily other folks have posted, and by the time I finish this more may have. Anyway, @brutalfarce mentioned that I ninja'ed him. It was really only a partial ninja -- he had expressed interest in a beer I checked in that is not available in Connecticut, I offered to pick him up a couple of bottles. But also realized his shipping address/place of employment is maybe a 20 minutes detour for me on my way home, so asked if I could stop by sometime and drop the two bottles off -- getting to Fedex/UPS takes more time than that, and I'm still somewhat reluctant to ship USPS.

I also like giving new ticks -- and Connecticut doesn't get Bell's, so I just picked up a few of their flagship-ish beers (while I don't like ALL their stuff, if I had to pick one IPA, one DIPA, one BA stout, and one regular stout from one brewery, I think Bell's would be my choice). And then I added a few local beers that I had excess of that he also seemed interested in.

Fast forward to today -- I walk in at his workplace, and a nice guy asks if he can help me. I ask for "William", and he says "that's me" -- I guess the "Bill" on his shirt should have given it away, but I assumed he always went by William. So I say "I'm Mike", and hand him his beers. Sort of ninja, but I've seen worse.

So then he says "cool", steps in the back for about 30 seconds, and comes back with a bunch of goodies for me... I'm not sure if they were stored in expectation of my arrival, or if he just keeps yummy stuff in his work fridge. But thanks a ton for these @brutalfarce !

    Left to right, we've got

Tired Hands Alien Church-- this one's an IPA that I expect to enjoy based on prior Tired Hands experience
Lagunitas Born Yesterday (2018) -- a Pale Ale -- I've had other years, but not this one
Jester King Grim Harvest (Batch 1) -- Jester King? seriously? This will be shared either with my son or coworkers, a 25 oz sour is sort of tough to solo
OEC Salsus (Blend #2)-- an OEC Gose. For those who don't know it, OEC makes some of the best/most creative sours in the whole country, but aren't super hyped and don't distribute much. Another one to share.
Empyrean 25th Anniversary BBA Barleywine -- I LOVE barleywines. And while this is 12%, it's only 12 oz. It will be consumed soon.
New Park Cloudscape - another new IPA from a new tick brewery.

I got lucky in that Bill still has a fairly tight style preference list, so I got some REALLY good stuff that I think is outside his comfort zone. I love the variety of styles. And there's always the chance one of these gets forwarded, since that's what this group is all about.

Thanks @brutalfarce -- and let the folks who were wondering if I wore my leathers ... just keep wondering.

Veeeeeery nice, William - anyone who gifts Jester King is good people in my book!

And I appreciate that you went out of your way (however minimal a detour) for that handshake, Mike - very cool. Local trade groups here are full of dudes who will flake on in-person stuff at the very last minute. Way to not be one of those guys!

Handshake ticks are up there with whales -- this was my 28th or 29th, about half of which have been one-on-one meetups with guys from the Locals who were travelling to NYC on business (I'm about an hour and a half away, but usually can swing a trip down). Or if ANYBODY in here attends EBF in Boston, make sure and let me know.
