I was going to make my first trip to EBF, but my buddy had to back out. Maybe if I had someone else to hang with...

Dude, that is AWESOME of you to offer! However, the equally awesome @Oconomowocian is already picking up for me. You Wisconsin boys are all kinds of all right!

Still one outstanding, but it's a case of real life being more important. It'll get sent out, not worried about that.

I wouldn't normally post a trade in here, but given that it wouldn't have happened without this group, and that my trade partner isn't on untappd (so this is my only opportunity to express my appreciation), I'm gonna do this... after @Oconomowocian let people know I was searching for styles (including Happoshu) I got the above reply... and immediately messaged @alexsergio saying "You seriously have an extra Hoppashu?". After a bunch of back-and-forth, we agreed on a pretty much blind trade where we would help each other with styles and states, and here's what arrived yesterday in a deceptively small but really heavy box...

First....a bunch of Sand City cans -- some with very entertaining names.

    left to right, we've got

    Sand City Guttersnipe- a DIPA
Sand City One - their First Anniversary DIPA
Sand City Mofosaic - the only beer in the whole box I'm not excited about, but I love the name
Sand City Two - their Second Anniversary DIPA
Sand City Soylent Green- a DIPA with a great name -- and "People" is listed as one of the ingredients
Sand City Three - their Third Anniversary Imperial NEIPA

These are all new ticks (I've only had a couple of Sand City beers). Although I am a little annoyed that one anniversary is written out, one is a number, and one is Roman numerals.

Next, the style ticks and more...

Grimm Today's Special - Motueka- an APA - I used to get Grimm distro regularly, but it's hard to come by now, so I'm excited about this one and the next two
    Grimm Upstairs/Downstairs - a DIPA
    Grimm Suicide Door- A TIPA
1940's Brewing 838 (crowler) - a Roggenbier that is one of the last few style ticks that both @alexsergio and I need!!
Root + Branch All Tomorrow's Parties (Nov 2018/ Batch 2) - a NEIPA from a brewery I've never tried before
Kirin Tanrei Green Label - the Happoshu that was the spark for this trade.

    The group shot...

This includes two of my four remaining style ticks -- I'll pick up an O'Douls this weekend to get one more. And plans are in the works for the final one for both of us, I'll hopefully be able to get my box back out next week.

    Thanks a ton Rob!!

I hope you enjoy them all, Mike! Don’t sleep on that Root and Branch, it’s low key probably the best can in a box full of heavy hitting IPA powerhouses.

And I’m keeping my eye on that brew gentlemen website for us!!

I've had one beer from Root & Branch I think maybe a collab but looked like that can was real good stuff

The Root & Branch was actually one of the ones that most intrigued me -- I'll move it up in the queue...

Seems like this thread has died down some, sorry I've been out of the loop but finally done with my commitments and I'm gonna drop a quote reply bomb on this thread later today or tomorrow depending on how slow work is lol.

I also wanted to say the rookie in me sent a ninja out yesterday with an ETA of friday to somewhere I didn't realize was quite as cold as it is, so I'll be contacting them and letting them know so hopefully it doesn't sit on their porch for too long...

A very generous box with a nice note showed up today from @SouthernSips. I appreciate the boxes that have been sent and will be paying it forward soon.

An awesome mix of new ticks

    • Parish DDH Ghost in the Machine - I've heard so much about this that I might just drink it tonight.
    • Great Notion Mothership - An 11% crowler sounds dangerous
    • Southern Prohibition DDH Devil's Harvest - Breakfast IPA? Interesting
    • Southern Prohibition Double Double Dry Hopped Paradise Lost
    • Southern Prohibition Double Dry Hopped Hex Clouds
    • Parish/Spindletap DDH Operation Juice Drop
    • Modern Times Fruitlands with Passion Fruit and Guava
    Thanks again!

Glad they all made it there safe, I just wanted to send a thanks following my first BIF. Sadly, it's just the way the releases fell out, but I was more excited to send this group of IPAs as a whole than the ones in my actual box. I also didn't realize every single one of them was DDH until you typed it out.

I'll be watching untappd, interested to see what you think!

Just wanted to show everyone in our group the other side of the trade with @Mikexw which wound up with both of us getting to the full complement of 111 styles.

In the center is a growler from brew gentlemen containing Blanks & Postage, an English Pale Mild Ale which will be my last style tick.
Mike’s bomb-proofed package also contained a Suarez bottle from his cellar and a plan bee bottle that just came out last weekend! Mike knows I love Hudson valley and new ticks so he threw in a can of purelake for me!
He took it over the top with cans from transient, brand new sloop, millhouse, a Newburgh/rushing duck collab, Peekskill and two breweries from Indiana that I hadn’t even heard of!!! All new ticks for me, which is right up my alley!
The cherry on top was the letter that was enclosed...typed on BIF letterhead!
Mike, thanks for this awesome box. I’m gonna start the day with that growler and go from there! We are hosting today so I’ll be sure to share some of this bounty with my family!
    Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Also, I haven't forgotten your MS tick!

    Happy Thanksgiving to all...
