Chicagoland area seems to be saturated with BA expedition 4pks. Pretty awesome brew as well.

Where outside of city limits are you referring to? I'd like to grab a 4 pack but haven't seen it in any northern suburb Binny's or Whole Foods.

I got a 4 pack! I took some advice, used Bell's beer finder and my second attempt at calling stores worked. The guy saved his last 4 pack for me, so nice of him. Also grabbed narwhal and had to pass on many other beers I'd love to have. Such a relief to get this fomo off my back.

This seems like a stretch to me. Most places in the city have gotten 1-2 cases and it sells out in a few hours.

Multiple places have gotten a second drop, out in the burbs, at least.

I know of two stores that got another couple cases this past week.

    With today’s hyperbole:
Lasting past the initial wave of truck chasers or line = saturated.

Lasting more than 1 day = shelf turd.

Everytime a Chicago store sells a 4 pack my trade hoard drops in value.

Mega Bev in Battle Creek had two 4-packs on the shelf as of yesterday.

Glad I made my Thanksgiving trip back to Escanaba,(where this beer was an easy find), rather than crossing my fingers hoping it shows up in Spooner. With only 20 cases hitting Milwaukee, this is going to be non-existant in NW WI. It's tasting pretty great.

Bells must have made a motherload of Barrel Aged Expedition Stout to send this much out to distribution.

Its really entertaining to read the 2018 BCBS thread. To see all these people waiting in line for hours and hours in the cold to spend around 250 to 300 bucks for 1 bomber of each BCBS variant and a few bottles of the non-variant BCBS.

For less than 175 dollars for 25 bottles of Barrel Aged Expedition Stout with no line waiting & Barrel Aged Expedition Stout is a significantly better beer than BCBS. Barrel aged Expedition Stout by a land slide over BCBS.

Since 2015 when bottle format went away from 4 packs of 12oz bottles & GI started using cheap-ass bourbon barrels to age BCBS. BCBS is a without a doubt a hollow shell of its former self; I have been drinking BCBS since 2007 and I am sad to see what it is today: less beer, lower quality product, that costs the consumer more! WTF!?!?!?! "Bend over beer nerds and take it!" That is what GI corporate says to its craft beer fans.

Bells for the win... I am not sure that regular BCBS ever tasted this good fresh as Barrel Aged Expedition Stout does this year. Kudos to Larry Bell for being "Old School". Using a fair price point with a consumer friendly format (4 pack of 12oz bottles) and by selling a premium barrel aged stout with reasonable availability of a "limited release beer" in such a crazed market as craft beer is these days. Larry Bells has got the vision. Keep up the good work!

For anyone that didn't get it (or those who need more), the Meijer at Zeeb Road in Ann Arbor has a fair number of 4 packs of BAE sitting on the end cap... on sale for $25.99!

Just here to plug the Bell's beer finder strategy. Worked for me today and scratched together a 4 pack BA Expo with a couple of quick stops on a road trip today. Places within a few minutes of the interstate too. Love it.

Finally got my grubby mitts on some of this. To me it tastes exactly like 2017 did when it was fresh which is a great thing. Why do I even bother with other BA stouts? Great stuff and whether it was a planned release or put out at the behest of our begging, thanks for releasing it @LarryBell

Still haven't seen this beer on the shelves anywhere near me. I know one shop that had one case and the faithful counter guy saved me a bottle. I'm saving that to share with a stout drinking buddy. FWIW I have never seen Black Note on a shelf exceot for a trip to K1 in Kalamazoo. Love all of their stouts, but I also love Bourbon County. Perhaps I'm easy, but not cheap. Cheers!

BCBS hasn't been in bombers for 4 years and nobody anywhere pays $250-$300 for a variant.

BAE was far, far more limited than BCBS from Cleveland to Youngstown to Pittsburgh where I frequent and anything but a motherload in comparison to goose.

I agree whole heartedly that BAE is far superior. Its arguably the best beer I've had all year.

I'm probably the only one, but I was disappointed with BA Expedition. I came across it in 4-packs and singles, and glad I stuck to a single. I thought it was thin, chalky/dry (though regular Expedition is the same way), and barely any bourbon flavors. Kind of bland all the way though.

I'm sort of curious of the comparisons to BCBS since this one seems to be on the polar opposite of the stout spectrum.
