I'd argue that they are NE IPAs, they just sometimes have versions that aren't using the hop profiles typically associated with that style (i.e. the 'juicy' hops), and I for one welcome that. How many citra mosaic galaxy combos do I need in my life.

Possibly? Not sure. I just know that it's going to vary with each beer and the hops used. Not all of them are going to come out as the typical haze/juice bomb that NEIPA lovers are looking for in beers like the majority of Hop Butcher's releases.

I had Fresh V4 and it looked more like your regular IPA in color than a haze bomb. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wouldn't expect every one of these to be a Hop Butcher haze/juice bomb. Simcoe hops... and not expecting pine/earthy flavors? I mean, if you want pure haze, go to Hop Butcher. If you want a bigger assortment of flavor profiles, go for the HC Fresh series. IMO, at least.

That makes perfect sense, and is kinda what I thought as well. I've tended to focus on those Citra/Mosaic/Galaxy combos because I always think I need more of those!

LMAO. What are you talking about? V series is extremely hazy, and many of their iterations are juicy af...

Not all? Not all are meant to be simply a haze bomb. Read the other posts in the discussion. It will always vary based upon the hop combos. My point was that if you're looking for a straight haze/juice bomb every single time they release a beer, then go with a different brewery? I probably should have said they're not always going to be that. There are quite a few of them that aren't.

You complained about V8 having a pine flavor... well yeah, it's Simcoe, of course it will have a pine/earthy flavor.

Maybe stick with certain hops? Find hops you like more so than just the type of beer it say on the label?

No reason to be a dick, btw.

I said in another post that I had V4 and it wasn't that super hazy/juice bomb that I expected. It was more dark amber/clear, like a traditional or a west coast IPA would be. I think when I had v7 it was also not quite as hazy as I'd expected. Maybe I had old cans too? Dunno. These beers can change so much in just a matter of a few weeks, it's hard to say. Either way, I'm just trying to suggest things.

Like my previous post, maybe just find specific hops that you like, and only do those beers from a certain brewery? IDK. I wasn't trying to be a smartass in my original post. Just suggesting how you could avoid beers you don't like based upon hop flavors/profiles? Find the hops you like best, and stick with beers using those only, maybe?

I think it's silly to stop drinking beer by an entire brewery simply because you didn't like the flavor profile of one of their offerings in comparison to what you thought it should be. You saw simcoe on the can, but didn't expect it to have a piney/earthy flavor to it?

I agree with everything you've said, just minus the part I quoted earlier.

I'm pretty knowledgeable with hop varieties (I homebrew) and I fucking hate simcoe, so its partly my fault, but I'm still done gambling with their stuff when I have other shit I'm guaranteed to enjoy more. If that makes sense.

    :beers:

I get ya. I actually very rarely buy their stuff as it is, and stick with some of the haze I know more. Hop Butcher being one of them.

I actually buy pretty much every V-series 4 pack I see when it is on the shelf. I can recall at least 7 different V-series that I have tried...I love how available it is and I have yet to be disappointed. ...And this is coming from someone who is very careful in avoiding breweries that are hit or miss (we all know who they are...)

I agree with this. Since they've done cans, I haven't been disappointed, and I think that's true for all but one when they were doing these in bottles. In fact, I do like that they have such variety and they don't all taste the same. Unlike some other breweries, the hops tend to stick out more on this beer IMO.

It does seem weird to me for someone to not like Simcoe, to buy a beer with Simcoe, to not like it because they tasted Simcoe qualities in the beer, then to decide that's the basis to not drink from that brewery ever again. Isn't that kind of like playing Russian Roulette without spinning the cylinder?

To be fair, there were other batches I did not enjoy. V1 being one of them.

To follow up; just cracked a can of V8 and........awesome! Piney, dank, Double IPA. Amazing how different each of the series tastes.

Has anyone seen the Hubbards Cave Triple IPA 4-packs anywhere? It looks like it is not at the brewery so I am trying to find any store selling it.

Printers Row Wine posted they had it, but about 4 days ago, not sure if they still do or not, but worth giving them a call.

Binny's in Wheeling had a handful on the shelf as of the end of last week. Don't recall the price point as I didn't pick one up. Happy hunting!
