I apparently opened this last night when I was annihilated. I’m not one to waste so I stuck it in the fridge it’s still tasting good. This is a “Pre-Shift” beer today, and one I Fucking need right about now.

Chubpotle chicken sammie made with Old Chub and Hot Buttered Rum Ten Fidy in the glass at the Boulder tap room. Ran a respectable 5k in Denver with a third place age finish. I'm going to indulge now......

Never seen him live. Watched many live performances but never actually been in person. He is fantastic.

Christmas shopping is finished and we walked the dogs. Now the mrs. and I are spending the rest of the day working on a mini keg of Two Hearted.

    Hey BA’s
Good thing about being married to an insomniac is you get up early and do all your errands before the huddled masses hit the stores. I am kind of used to the vacuuming and smell of cooking food at 2 am after 43 years.

Pretty slanted picture, our kitchen appears to be down hill today.

Dust Bowl Brewing Company — Midnight Therapy

Taking it up a notch with an Imperial Black IPA. And when I say Imperial, I mean it. This beer clocks in at warm 11.4% ABV. Dust Bowl is my local brewery here in the Central Valley of California, and I've been meaning to this one, but have never gotten to it. Now is as good of a time as any. Dust Bowl makes several iterations of its Therapist series, including the base West Coast IPA, an unfiltered version, this black IPA, and WCIPA w/ coconuts added. All are really triple IPAs that clock in at 11+%.

Pours with a brown, somewhat transparent stream, similar to your typical imperial brown ales. A semi-aggressive pour gives me a finger and a half of khaki-colored head that exhibits pretty good retention, considering the ABV on this thing. There is no lacing left on the glass. Smell is very WC IPA-like. There lots of grapefruit and pine flavors, as well as a noticeable malt background. The nose is about medium in intensity. In terms of taste, this also tastes closer to other heavy WC IPAs, than to other Cascadian ales that I've had. Lots of hop presence, and not enough roasted malt, in my opinion. Some alcohol is noticeable. This beer has a full body, medium carbonation, and the alcohol is pretty well-hidden, considering the ABV. Overall, this is an OK-drinking heavy IPA, but it doesn't have enough of that roasty component that I really like in Black IPAs.

    4.25 | 3.75 | 3.75 | 4.25 | 3.75
    Overall: 3.83 (rDev: +10.7%)
    — mine is only the third rating, with one other person giving this a really bad grade in a review that I, frankly, strongly disagree with.

    Cheers!
