    Less than amazing but still tasty. Been working my way through The Hobbits and The Lord of the Rings trilogies over the holidays. Now finishing up the Return of the King today. Cheers !

    One for the road - Cloudwater’s A-W 18 One Off “Porter”:



    Weird. Smells/tastes like an IPA with roasted malt...

    Now downtown drinking at the bar next to our dinner event ... Edinburgh ‘s Caledonian Brewing’s Coast to Coast, an APA:



    Skunky earthy bitter hops. A little lemon on the finish. Ok.

    Another thing sent to me from @jdell15 in the BIF #8.
    2014 Barleywine from Charleville Brewing. 10.5% ABV.

    Damn tasty, and I do love a good Barleywine.

    3.94/5 rDev -1.3%
    look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

    Pours a copper color. No head, just a slight bit of foam popped up, with a slight carbonation that produces a slightly off white ring around the glass.
    The nose has notes of fruit on it. Slightly malty, biscuit aroma. Not extremely strong aroma, but there.
    Taste - Complex. I get a bit of pepper, malty biscuit, slight fruit, raisin, and it finishes with a slight hop bitterness.
    Full bodied. Slightly creamy feeling. Slight bitter feel. No real alcohol burn, which is surprising with the ABV.
    I do love a good aged Barleywine, and this is quite tasty.


    Also, if you're interested in science at all: tonight, around midnight (Central), the New Horizons probe is going to pass within 2000 miles of KBO 2014 MU69 Ultima Thule. I can't wait to see the pictures sent back by it in the next few days.

    latest beer today, while I start braisin' that pork belly for later garlic-heavy ramen dish. :wink: (see link above). 2 Hearted. Might need more of it later, in case that garlic gets to me.

    Happy new year everyone, starting with allagash ganache. Raspberries, cherry, some tartness and funk. Really nice high end milk chocolate shows up in the background. Good dessert beer but it isn't too sweet so it works anytime[​IMG]forensic anthropology requirements
