Two Captains Double IPA. It used to have a much nicer label, but at least it's a reasonable sized bottle.



Room has a small fridge, but this time the balcony is doing a better job for a quick chill.



Whenever you're in a Scandinavian hotel and looking for an opener, look in the bathroom. Big change ther's a wall mounted opener

Errands are done, so I'm sitting down with another stout...

The bourbon is strong with this one. Happy Birthday to @vabeerguy. Don't have too much fun tonight. My wife made plans for the evening, so this might be it for me. Cheers all & enjoy your Friday!

 

Deep amber gold color with good white cap and lacing.

Aroma of rich, toasty malt and honey. The honey, fermented with the malt I understand, does come across as honey like but is rather dry giving off only a sense of sweetness without being overly sweet. There is a low key hop presence but this brew isn't about hops so they are there just for balance. Finish is clean with touches of sweetness in the aftertaste. Taste is more roasty than toasty malt but without roasted bitterness.

Medium full texture with balancing carbonation.

I can actually see this as a companion for spicy food in the same way that amber lagers work with Mexican style food.

 

Happy Friday ba. A little late start here thanks to last night. Last can on hand of this. Fork and Beans, coffee stout, Greenport Harbor. Nicely coffee forward but probably lacks a bit of body to hang with the bigger boys. Nice drinking regardless. Heading out shortly for a major beer haul and perhaps a taste or two.

Milk and Hops Astor Place?

 

I got a 4 of those when we were out there early December, really tasty. Their OG stuff is really good.

 

I read a recent article in the local paper entitled "Bell's Brewery beer is no longer available in Richmond-and won't be for the forseeable future." That sucks. I like their Two Hearted brew.
